MEET OUR TEAM MEMBER
We hope you will join us in congratulating Katie on 15 years at Port City! CONGRATS ON 15 YEARS WITH THE CLUB KATIE, WHAT HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS? So much has changed in the past 15 years. The Club has grown in capacity, with 2 major renovations and a 3rd being planned, the technology and facilities have advanced – the Club is keeping up to date & not becoming outdated. Our membership numbers have grown significantly which is an indication of great facilities, staff and customer service. The faces in the Club - the staff, our members and guests have also changed – still plenty of regular faces though! I’ve gotten older! hahaha WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT WORKING AT PORT CITY? Throughout my employment with Port City I’ve enjoyed a good work life balance. Having started in the bar at 18years old & now in reception, administration & accounts payable - I’ve been fortunate to have worked in most areas of the Club. I enjoy the variety in my role, the atmosphere that the Club offers, the people and the staff I work alongside. Each day is different! TELL US ALL SOMETHING WE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU? I’m a mum of 2, Marli 11 years and Eli 9 years. This year, between work and family commitments, I am organising (in a volunteer capacity) the school fete for my kid’s school. Having coordinated this event 2 years ago, I
feel I’m a glutton for punishment! While a lot of time, energy and community spirit goes into organising such a major event, I know it will benefit my kids & their friends now and many more into the future. IF YOU HAD SIX MONTHS WITH NO OBLIGATIONS OR FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THE TIME? My partner (Phil) and I are currently renovating a 1969 Olympic Fiberglass Caravan. I love that caravanning holidays offer relaxation, the opportunity to recharge in nature, to reconnect with family all while exploring what’s on offer. I would in a heart beat pack my bags and travel with my family. I’ve only experienced short trips to date, however would love to explore what Australia has to offer with no obligations or constraints for 6 months or even longer. IF YOU WERE TALKING TO SOMEONE VISITING PORT MACQUARIE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME, WHERE WOULD YOU TELL THEM TO VISIT AND WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THEM ABOUT THE CLUB? Our community is spoilt with a beautiful coastline, views, rainforest, national parks and wildlife. I would encourage all visiting Port Macquarie to experience what is on offer. Followed by visiting Port City, a family friendly place to dine, catch up socially with friends or put the challenge out for a game of barefoot bowls. 13
Congratulations to our recent employee of the month winners, thank you for all your hard work!

Club Grants Presentation 2019 The Club Grants program provides much needed funds for organisations and volunteer groups in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area. On Tuesday 30th July, Port City Bowling Club held their 2019 Club Grants cheque presentation for the 2019 grant round. The event included representatives from each of the organisations receiving grants for 2019. The reason for the event was to highlight the great work the people involved in each of the four organisations do for our local community and to help improve their working environments to be able to provide a better service and facilities for those involved.
For the 2019 Club Grants round, Port City was proud to contribute over $46,000 in Category 1 funding towards worthy organisations such as Willing & Able Foundation, Hastings Public School, Port Macquarie Public School P&C Association and the Cancer Patient Foundation. All very worthy applicants. On behalf of Port City Bowling Club we thank everyone for all the work they do within our local community helping to make the Hastings a better place.
