During the harvesting season, farmers harvest their crops for further processing. A significant portion of the harvest is sold to government entities in exchange for credit. The remaining portion is kept by the farmers for personal consumption. This whole process prominently happening in the countryside India is kind of responsible for fulfilling the food supply needs in India. Also, crop production and management, or say agriculture in India, employs the largest portion of our country’s population.
If you consider geographical & geological factors, you would realize that a significant portion of area of land in our country is fit for crop production. This includes the northern and Deccan regions, such as the Ganga basin, Godavari basin, Narmada basin, etc. But research indicates that crop production and management is not profitable due to many social, economic, natural, and local issues.
