SEAN LYGO General Manager Porsche Willoughby
PORSCHE WILLOUGHBY - 911% PORSCHE FOR OVER 55 YEARS.
OOur mission this year was to add PASC to PCW – that is, Porsche Approved Service Centre – the first and only one of its kind in Australia.
We will not only service your existing Porsche, but also offer a range of Porsche Approved Used Vehicles every time you visit.
Our fleet of 30 service loan cars – including Macan, Cayenne, 718 Boxster, and 718 Cayman models – will also be housed here. This makes visiting us more convenient than ever.
The Porsche Platz Café will be serving St. Ali coffee, alongside fresh fruit and healthy snacks, making your experience even more enjoyable.
As I write this, we’re experiencing a week of intense rainstorms, which has delayed the completion of the new facility previously scheduled for October/November. However, I have it on good authority that we will be operational by Christmas.
The main roof, covering all four levels was installed late May.
We can now focus on completing the front showroom which will house sales staff, Porsche Platz Café, lifestyle products area, and our aftersales team.
It’s all very exciting!
All I want for Christmas is to host a welcome party at 43 Hotham Parade, Artarmon!
We can’t wait to show you around the new premises. I believe this project will become the largest and most modern After Sales and Parts distribution centre in Australia.
The question we keep hearing from our clients is: “What’s happening at Willoughby?”
My answer is this: when we designed our car park back in 1992 – the year I joined – we were delivering just a handful of Porsches and a couple of Ferraris each month. As a result, the parking we planned then simply doesn't meet the needs we have today.
Our plan is to continue operating here at Willoughby through 2027 and 2028, before commencing a complete interior
rebuild to create a Destination Porsche – without service and parts operations.
That said, we’ll still run an ongoing campaign where we invite you to have your car washed and prepared each month. While you wait, you can enjoy a coffee, catch up with your preferred Sales Consultant, and browse the latest vehicles available.
Yes – we will feel a little lonely without Service and Parts!
Over the next few pages, you’ll find updated photographs and a progress update from the Project Leader himself.
We were also busy preparing for Sports Car Together Day, which took place in the first week of June – a wonderful opportunity for our clients and friends to enjoy special displays of classic sports cars and, of course, to sample the delicious pizza we had on offer.
I’m personally very excited to confirm our first-ever African Dakar Safari!
Twelve of us will be driving 911 Dakars for five days through the magnificent Namibian countryside.
One of our long-term clients – and a good friend of PCW – had been chasing me for over a year:
“Got to buy a Dakar, Sean,” he’d say. Almost weekly, I’d receive a text or call with the same message.
Eventually, one of the nine cars in Australia became available – from a collector in Victoria. I was able to negotiate the purchase, and our client took delivery on 1 June 2025.
In the meantime, we’re booking flights to Johannesburg and onwards to Walvis Bay, where we’ll meet the Porsche Experience team on 17 September.
We’ll feature a full story on Namibia – and of course, the Dakar itself – in the final W of 2025.
Sincerely,
Centre Willoughby's

From the GT3 to the Dakar, Porsche Centre Willoughby customers returned to Levi, Finland, for an unforgettable Ice Force Pro experience—where expert instruction, frozen tracks, and sideways thrills combined under the glow of the Northern Lights.
Written by PCW guest, Randall Lumbewe.
Life is full of experiences. And the ones that stay with you, you just want to have repeatedly. In 2024 the opportunity to participate in Porsche’s events, Ice Experience and Ice Force, was provided by Porsche Centre Willoughby. The two events were conducted concurrently in Levi, Finland, in the Arctic Circle.
Late in 2023 prior to the 2024 events, Sean Lygo provided the cohort of loyal customers a briefing of what to expect, all of which added to the anticipation, not unlike waiting for your new 911 to appear in the show room of PCW.
Despite Sean’s record attendances to Finland of fifteen times, he did his best to explain the thrill of what we were to experience. Yes, back then we got to drive the Taycan Turbo, the 911 GTS two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, the 911 Turbo S and the 911 Dakar over the six days of driving/drifting on the ice.
For 2025, Porsche Experience added Ice Force Pro to their Ice Experience program. This course includes three days of driving just 992 911 GT3’s and the 911 Dakar. The 2024 events were so good, my son and I simply had to return to relive it.
Having been there before we knew what to expect in terms of the extreme weather; dutifully packed the thermal clothing, extra thick socks and all the gear we took last year preparing for the minus 21°C temperatures
and colder. This year however it was just minus 7°C at its coldest. No real need for thermals and face masks this time. It was not as though we were going through one of those “extreme warm weather events” since it was minus 38°C the previous week.
We were greeted on arrival at Kittila airport by the friendly Porsche Experience team and ferried by bus to the hotel some 20 minutes north of the airport. Checkin was painless and again we were provided with the Porsche Experience jacket and some driving glasses to help define the snowbank edges to the ice/snow covered track surface.
The first evening was the welcome dinner at the Panorama Hotel in Levi, the food and company was amazing, with a bunch of people all with the common interests of enjoying life and drifting someone else’s awesome 911’s on ice. Rear wheel drive GT3’s and fourwheel drive Dakar’s, mixing up the vehicle’s dynamics, to the extreme, expanding our knowledge of drifting on ice while building on the skills developed in previous courses. The people on Ice Force Pro had all completed the prerequisite events (Ice Experience and Ice Force) so we basically knew what to expect in terms of modus operandi for the event.
We arrived at the garage on Day 1 and were greeted by our instructors for the event.
The morning of Day 1 on ice was a short driver briefing, then a refamiliarization of the basics of drifting. It was also the first time driving the 992 GT3 on ice.
And it was nice to have Admi Saffian again, having had him instruct us in 2024, as well as Rudolf Rhyn.
The event commenced with the slalom courses, exercising us with the Scandinavian Flick, testing our delicate braking (or not!) and throttle control, followed by circle work in the Dakar. This involved maintaining the drifting around a large mound of snow and ice. Several drivers complained of feeling motion sickness from the G-forces experienced with the repetitive drifting in circles. And of course, the nature of drifting a four-wheel drive Porsche (the Dakar) with very large drift angles (close to 90 degrees) yet having the steering wheel almost centred was at odds with physics. One of the consequences of this circle work was a significant rise in the Dakar’s engine temperature as continuous sideways driving results in little airflow into the front mounted radiators. But at -7°C it took just a lap or two of sensible driving to restore the temperature to normal level.
Day 1 afternoon and subsequent event days, alternated between drifting the 992 GT3 and the Dakar – what a blast! We were drifting on the various ice tracks on the southside of the Porsche facility putting into action the techniques of controlled left foot braking, smooth steering (sometimes) and throttle control. And sometimes there was balletic control once the technique was mastered. But with changing track conditions where the ice became more slippery (less snow) it was challenging to repeat, lap after lap of any given track.
The art of Scandinavian Flicking the Dakar was one of patience, flicking the car right before turning left, gently dabbing the brakes (ideally using the left foot) to achieve the necessary weight transfer to help promote turn in, waiting for the rear of car to commence overtaking the front wheels, apply some counter steer and gas, gas gas! Of course, judging the turn-in point and correct entry speed to a corner was an acquired skill unless one was used to drifting the local round-abouts back home.
Similar but different, I thought drifting the 992 GT3 was somewhat easier although in the first instance still using the basics as per the Dakar but getting on throttle
"Just how could you improve such an Ice Experience Event? Well… we were graced with the experience of none other than the Northern Lights."
"The food and company was amazing, with a bunch of people all with the common interests of enjoying life and drifting someone else’s awesome 911s on ice."
provided a natural locked differential rear drive response, plenty of counter steer and angle, not as fast as the Dakar but also incredibly rewarding when we got it right.
And then for the drift transition, in either of the Porsches, with the car substantially sideways into a left turn, some right opposite lock, then left lock, a lift off on the throttle, maybe a touch of brake, and the rear of the car quickly rotates so the rear of the car starts to overtake the front and on to the gas again with a little left opposite lock to keep the corners flowing. Ballet on ice when you get it right.
The Dakar had 3mm studs all round whilst the 992 GT3 had 5mm front studs and 3mm rear studs which somewhat explained how well the GT3 behaved under brakes and its ability to turn in to a corner.
Some of the times on track the G-forces were almost violent, certainly after the engine was bouncing off the 9000rpm rev limiter in 3rd gear, wheel speed more than 150kph and corners fast approaching. It was comforting to know what was considered impossible was thankfully, achievable.
Each day we were provided plenty of opportunities for refreshments, sufficient breaks along with excellent food
for lunch and dinner. On the second evening we were treated to a wood fired smoked chicken barbeque.
One of the evening events we had was the Consistency Challenge. Three Laps on the Tag Heuer Track driving the 992.2 GTS 4. Lap 1 was for familiarisation, and then two timed laps where the driver who achieved the closest time for both timed laps was presented an award. For those who did not win it was still great to experience the latest technology which Porsche has developed to “hybridise” the 911.
Being so far north at 4:30pm, it was a time to also experience the beautiful sunsets. It was usual to finish the driving well into the dark at 6:00pm with the awesome LED Matrix headlight helping to define the snowbanks.
Just how could you improve such an Ice Experience event? Well, on the final evening, after a few after-dinner drinks, we were graced with the experience of none other than the Northern Lights. It was somewhat of an emotional experience. The red faces were in part due to the sophistication of modern mobile phone cameras where the exposure was sufficiently long to capture the lights, as opposed to the effects of after-dinner drinks. Will we go back again? Probably.

Laying the Foundations for a New Era — Structural Milestones and Advanced EV Infrastructure Take Shape in Artarmon.
All I want for Christmas this year is the key to our PASC in Artarmon.
Looking forward to inviting you all to our opening celebration, complete with Father Christmas. Sean Lygo, GM, Porsche Centre Willoughby.
AAs Porsche Centre Willoughby expands into Artarmon and undergoes its most significant redevelopment to date, we caught up with the project lead for an update on the progress and what customers can expect in the coming months.
W Magazine: A couple of months ago, we captured some early photos and outlined the structural plans, hoists and service areas. How has the project progressed since then?
Project Lead: It’s been quite an extensive few months. We’ve now reinstated half of the original building that had been demolished. At this stage, we’re already up to installing the roof. The structural framing is complete, the purlins are ready to go in, and the roof sheeting will follow shortly. It’s a substantial milestone in the build.
W: And what’s next?
Project Lead: The next phase is focused on constructing the two levels at the front of the site. That work will begin over the next two to three months.
“We’re talking about a 400–800 amp switchboard— some of these chargers will be capable of delivering a 80% charge in under twenty minutes.”
W: How many levels in total will the completed building have?
Project Lead: We’re looking at three levels above ground, in addition to ground level itself. It’s a complex build, particularly below the surface.
W: In what way?
Project Lead: A significant part of the recent work has involved trenching through existing concrete to install all new services. These include electrical cabling—particularly for the EV charging infrastructure—running from the main switchboard, as well as fire systems, plumbing, wastewater, and water supply lines connecting to the street services.
W: Is the electrical system particularly advanced due to the EV capabilities?
Project Lead: Yes, absolutely. The new infrastructure will support highcapacity fast charging. We’re talking about a 400–800 amp switchboard, specifically designed for the EV stations. Fast chargers will be capable of delivering an 80% charge in under 20 minutes.
That’s where we’re up to for now. It’s been a demanding process, but the foundations—both physical and technological—are taking shape quickly.

AIR|WATER FINDS PERMANENT HOME IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
AAir|Water, the expansive Porsche gathering created by Patrick Long and Jeff Zwart, returned to Costa Mesa, California, on 28 April 2025, drawing more than 1,000 vehicles and thousands of visitors to the OC Fair & Event Center. In only its third year, the event is shaping up to be a fixture on the global Porsche calendar, offering a broad and inclusive platform for enthusiasts across every corner of the marque.
Unlike its air-cooled sibling, Luftgekühlt, Air|Water celebrates Porsche in all forms—air and water-cooled, road and race, vintage and modern. It is a gathering defined by its diversity and ambition, presenting curated displays alongside community-driven participation, immersive experiences, and new ways to engage with the brand.
Returning to the same Costa Mesa venue for a second year signals a new intent: to establish Air|Water as an annual destination event for Porsche owners, fans and the wider automotive community. This year’s showing made that ambition clear.
From early arrivals to highly curated ‘hero cars’, the scale and detail of the presentation reflected the depth of Porsche culture. Standout vehicles included the 1985 Formula 1 championship-winning McLaren MP4/2B, powered by a Porsche-built turbocharged TAG V6 engine masterminded by Hans Mezger. Also on display were a Rothmans-liveried 911 SC/RS rally car, a road-legal Schuppan 962 CR—one of only six built—and the Flying Lizard GT3-RSR that Long himself raced at Le Mans in 2012.
Six themed zones explored different facets of Porsche history and innovation. From mid-engined models and transaxle 944s to Rod Emory’s outlaw 356s and Porsche’s agricultural tractors, each display underscored the brand’s eclectic heritage. A dirt oval hosted off-road machines—from lifted 911s to rally builds—while the newly introduced ‘Carrera Carnival’, supported by Porsche Cars North America, gave visitors the chance to ride shotgun with professional drivers on a purpose-built circuit.
“Air|Water was never just about adding water-cooled cars to the Luft idea. It’s about creating a space where the entire Porsche world can connect.”
— Patrick Long
“We want people to understand why these cars matter—why they’re different, and why the enthusiasm around Porsche is so enduring.”
— Patrick Long
“More than 50 percent of our focus is on the non-Porsche owner,” said Long. “We want people to understand why these cars matter—and why they inspire such passion. That’s why Porsche Cars North America helped create an event within an event this year.”
Equally important was the vibrant mix of exhibitors. From performance parts and restoration experts to independent artists and lifestyle brands, Air|Water fostered an environment where personal expression and professional connection intersect. It’s a formula designed to support the wider Porsche ecosystem, not simply extend the Luftgekühlt concept.
As Long explains, “Air|Water was never just about adding water-cooled cars to the Luft idea. There was a missing space in North America—something inclusive, where fans, collectors, creators and companies could all come together once a year.”
The event also featured the return of Broad Arrow’s Porschespecific auction, drawing an enthusiastic crowd to witness a compelling mix of collector-grade cars, including Carrera GTs, 918 Spyders, and rare air-cooled models. “It’s the party within the party,” Long noted. “Always packed, always buzzing.”
Air|Water’s continued growth—both in scale and ambition— demonstrates the enduring pull of the Porsche brand and its culture of innovation, motorsport, and community. And the Luft team isn’t stopping at California.
Later this year, Air|Water will make its European debut at Nocny Market in Warsaw, Poland, on 13–14 June. Hero cars and owner builds will be joined by key exhibits from the Porsche Museum, marking a significant milestone for the event’s global expansion. “This is the next chapter,” says Long. “It’s a whole different ball of wax—but we’re as passionate about it as we are about Luft.”
With roots now firmly planted in Southern California and new shoots appearing in Europe, Air|Water is proving itself more than just an event—it’s a growing celebration of everything Porsche stands for.

A conversation with the actor, Porsche enthusiast, and Porsche Design ambassador
Orlando, you've spoken often about your love of Porsche. What is it about the brand that resonates with you on such a personal level?
Orlando Bloom: I've always had an eye for iconic design — that rare blend of beauty and purpose. Porsche represents that perfectly. My first Porsche was a 1973 911 S — black exterior, tan interior — and it’s still with me today. It was the start of a real passion for the brand. There’s a certain tactility, a mechanical honesty to these cars. You feel everything. The 911, in particular, is timeless. It doesn’t scream for attention — it just is.
Editor’s Note: Orlando Bloom is the current global brand ambassador for Porsche Design, representing their Timepieces and Eyewear divisions. His personal connection with Porsche and passion for precision design continue to influence his life both on and off screen.
You're now a global brand ambassador for Porsche Design. How did that collaboration come about?
OB: It felt natural. I’ve admired Porsche Design for a long time. When the opportunity arose to work together, it was a perfect fit — not just because I love the cars, but because I respect the design legacy that Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche created. He had this bold vision of applying the same design principles used in the 911 to other objects, and he was way ahead of his time. That legacy lives on today in every product, from watches to eyewear.
What drew you to the Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition?
OB: It’s all about authenticity. The Chronograph 1 was the first timepiece from Porsche Design, and the first all-black chronograph ever made. I love how it draws direct inspiration from the 911 dashboard. When I wear it, I feel like I’m wearing a piece of automotive history — not just a watch. It’s a nod to function-driven design. No gimmicks, no excess. Just precision and purpose. I even had the opportunity to visit the Porsche Design Timepieces facility in Solothurn, Switzerland. Seeing how the watches are engineered and assembled was eye-opening.
What’s something that surprised you during your visit to Porsche Design in Switzerland?
OB: The dedication to detail. Each chronograph is built with the same mentality you find in Porsche sports cars — nothing is left to chance. I appreciated how they’ve brought real performance thinking to the world of timepieces. And the fact that the watches are developed in close cooperation with Porsche engineers is brilliant — it shows that this isn’t just branding, it’s an extension of the Porsche ethos.
You also wear Porsche Design eyewear. What do you like about those pieces?
OB: Just like the watches, the eyewear is engineered with intent. They’re lightweight, high-tech, and discreet — but still bold in their own way. I’m not interested in fashion for fashion’s sake. It has to have meaning, and Porsche Design has that. They’re timeless, like the 911. Whether it’s the sunglasses or optical frames, they feel like they belong in the same world as the car.
There’s a clear alignment between your taste and the Porsche Design philosophy. How would you describe your own approach to design and personal style?
OB: Less is more. I look for balance, for simplicity. I admire things that are purposeful — that work beautifully without needing to shout. That’s what I see in Porsche Design. It’s engineering dressed as art. And it’s the same way I approach my home, my wardrobe, even the roles I choose. I’d rather do fewer things, but do them well.
What’s next in your journey with Porsche?
OB: For now, I’m enjoying exploring more of what Porsche Design has to offer. I’m fascinated by their work beyond watches and eyewear — the travel gear, the accessories, the home and office products. I think the Porsche mindset has a place in everyday life, and I want to help shine a light on that.
And what about behind the wheel — anything in your Porsche garage besides the '73?
OB: Let’s just say the love of Porsche didn’t stop at one car… but that 911 S is still the one I keep coming back to. Some things just never go out of style.

Aliya Roach is the friendly voice and face many clients will recognise from the Porsche Centre Willoughby reception desk or phone line. With a background in fashion retail and a sharp eye for iconic style, she entered the automotive world just over a year ago and quickly found her stride.
What is your role at PCW?
My job title is Client Relationship Concierge. Clients may have spoken with me over the phone when calling PCW or met me at Reception when visiting the showroom.
How long have you been with PCW?
I just celebrated my first anniversary with PCW in April.
Tell us a little bit about your motoring background? And how did you find your way here?
I am new to the motor industry. I spent the last 6 years in fashion retail and the last 3 years in retail management. I was with an agency when I started at Porsche and loved the job. So much so that when I was asked to stay on, it was a no-brainer.
What appealed to you about working with the Porsche brand?
Porsche is an iconic brand and having no experience in the motoring industry I was unsure what to expect. Learning everything from such an iconic brand has been so much fun.
What has been your experience working with the PCW team?
So great! Sean and the other managers have worked hard to create such a great team, and it really shows in their customer service and dedication to PCW and the brand.
Do you have a favourite model?
The iconic 911 is my favourite—there’s something about its shape and presence that’s instantly captivating. I especially love the cabriolet; it just feels like the perfect mix of style, freedom and classic Porsche character.
What has been a highlight during your time at PCW?
The events! I’ve loved partaking in all the open days, especially Sportscar Together Day, which is taking place again this year on 7th June. This was my first taste of the wider Porsche community and an introduction to just how much passion there is for the brand.
Tell us about your life outside of PCW
I love to bake… I spend a lot of time baking on my weekends. I recently made a giant chocolate cake for my partner’s birthday, that was delish (if I do say so myself). I love to spend time with my family, especially my sister’s new little puppy, Alfie.
Icons don’t age. They reinvent themselves.
As much as it is important to us to revive historical eras in style with the Icons of Cool, we are also always keen to incorporate the most modern technology into the development. This is also shown by our latest collector’s model: the 911 Spirit 70.
Based on the drivetrain of the 911 Carrera GTS and the second and latest generation 992, it combines the incomparable flair of the 70s and early 80s with the inimitable dynamics of the latest 911.
The era of self-expression. Especially when it comes to the details.
In the 911 Spirit 70, history is clear to see in every detail. One thing that is rather rare to find, but is all the more appreciated by Porsche enthusiasts, are the Porsche 911’s safety stripes.
Originally introduced in the early 70s to make
the small sports car easier to spot in the rearview mirror at high speeds on the motorway or racetrack, these stripes quickly became a symbol of safety and style. Typically featuring the stylised ‘911’ at the bottom, they gave the vehicle an additional sporty touch.

The Pasha pattern can also be found as an optional textile insert on the decorative panel of the dashboard and on the seat backrests – a true eyecatcher. A real highlight – especially in an open-top vehicle like the 911 Spirit 70.
Some design highlights in the 911 Spirit 70 are so sophisticated that they impress at first glance – while others only reveal themselves upon closer inspection. Like the glove compartment, which is lined on the inside with the Pasha textile, and the reversible luggage compartment mat, also adorned with the same hypnotic fabric. It’s this attention to detail – even in unexpected places –that defines the 911 Spirit 70.
Icons don’t age. They reinvent themselves.
Hypnotic, energetic, iconic – a pattern whose origins, unlike corduroy or Pepita, do not stem from the fashion world but from the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach.
Inspired by fluttering chequered flags, the Pasha pattern is a vivid homage to the world of motorsport – to the thrill of speed and the drama of racing. This psychedelic chequerboard design weaves together past and present, tradition and innovation, reinterpreting a distinctive hallmark that carries the spirit of Porsche in every seam.
First introduced in the Porsche 928 during testing in southern France in 1977, and later seen in models such as the 911, 924 and 944 through to the mid-1980s, the vibrant, dynamic pattern became one of Porsche’s most recognisable interior designs – with colour variations as diverse as the 1970s themselves.
Special from the first glance. And all other glances, too.
From the very beginning of the Heritage Design Strategy concept phase in 2017, Porsche designers were certain of one thing: with the 911 Spirit 70, the Pasha pattern had to return. Reintroduced with qualitative improvements to meet modern safety and comfort standards, the use of new flock yarns gives the pattern a sportier look, enhanced tactile quality, and improved comfort – particularly on longer journeys.
As a defining style element, it now features on the door panels and seat centre panels*, available in a bold Black/Olive Neo combination that complements the exterior, or in a more restrained Black/Dark Silver version.
The perfect material for icons: the elegant Club Leather trim in Basalt Black, with decorative stitching in Olive Neo or, optionally, a neutral version in Slate Grey. A special cloud print enhances the natural character of the leather. In addition to the Club Leather Basalt Black interior package and the optional interior package for the dashboard and door panels, the sill panels, air vents (including slats), and cup holder cover are also finished in high-quality leather.
It’s often the little things that make the biggest impression. The gold-plated limited edition badge on the decorative dashboard
trim is a genuine eye-catcher. Alongside the ‘911’ lettering and model name, it displays the individual limited edition number, identifying each 911 Spirit 70 as a collector’s vehicle of genuine rarity. Just 1,500 units will be produced by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The refined colour concept of the 911 Spirit 70 draws attention in both bold and subtle ways. The dashboard accent strip, painted in Olive Neo, creates a more harmonious connection between interior and exterior – whether the trim is finished in Pasha or leather. Even in the neutral Dark Silver version, the accent strip adds an understated yet distinctive highlight inside the cabin.

A colour that reflects its decade. Surprisingly different.
For the 911 Spirit 70, Porsche designers set out to create an exclusive and striking colour that reflects the aesthetic of the 1970s. While many immediately associate the decade with a vivid palette of oranges and yellows, a closer look reveals a far broader and more nuanced spectrum. To surprise and delight, while staying true to the spirit of the era, Porsche developed a unique shade never before offered: Olive Neo – a reinterpretation of the historic Porsche colours Olive and Olive Green, brought into the modern age.
Olive Neo is a rich, deep green with a contemporary undertone, evoking the free-
spirited vibe of the 1970s while offering a fresh and elegant presence.
The 911 Spirit 70 is also available in two classic exterior colours – solid Black and GT Silver Metallic – along with more than 130 Paint to Sample options, including periodappropriate shades such as Signal Orange. For those who can't imagine the 1970s without a bold orange or yellow, the Paint to Sample programme ensures the perfect hue is within reach.
Iconic like the ’70s.
The 20-/21-inch Sport Classic wheels – painted in Black (satin gloss) and Bronzite with centre-locking – blend high performance with classic aesthetics. Inspired by the legendary Fuchsfelge®, these wheels are a tribute to Porsche’s design heritage.
A special detail: the wheel hub covers feature the historic 1963 Porsche Crest, a subtle nod to a storied past. Echoing the style of the 1970s, the brake callipers are finished in highgloss Black with a White ‘PORSCHE’ logo.
Innovation has always been part of the Porsche story. In 1967, in collaboration with Otto Fuchs KG, Porsche introduced a major milestone with the 911 S: the first light-alloy forged wheel for a production car. Lighter yet just as durable as the standard steel wheels of the time, the Fuchsfelge® became one of the most iconic rim designs in automotive history.

One step inside Frank Robinson’s boutique and you will find yourself enveloped in an atmosphere unlike a traditional jewellery store. It’s warm, inviting and filled with carefully curated pieces. Creativity hums in the background as Frank works, blending storytelling with design. From threading 60 strands of pearls into a new creation to sourcing an 8-carat emerald at auction, each piece he crafts carries a history, a transformation, and a touch of his unmistakable style.
SSurrounded by exquisite examples of unique jewellery, we asked Frank about his approach. “I focus on unique, highquality pieces—things you won’t find elsewhere. My clients value individuality, craftsmanship and investment potential. I choose to advertise in W Magazine and Centurion Magazine only, both of which target discerning buyers.
Frank’s career started at Hardy Brothers in 1991, not far from his current location. After working at various places, Frank opened his own store, realizing a dream and having full creative control which is clearly important to him. Pieces are sought from across the globe. Auctions, trade shows in Hong Kong and Bangkok, or directly from clients. Frank also designs and manufactures his own.
With such experience in the industry, we asked Frank if he’s noticed any trends in his area of the industry. “Clients want genuine, high-value pieces—not imitations. Younger buyers are coming through referrals from long-time clients—parents or grandparents. Trust is everything, especially when buying diamonds or marking milestones. About 86% of my business is repeat customers. Whether someone spends $100 or $3 million, every purchase matters to me. People work hard for their money, and I believe they deserve respect, transparency, and a personal experience that makes them feel confident in what they’re buying.”
Frank believes this way of thinking mirrors Porsche’s own philosophy. “Whether it is a Macan or a 911 GT3, you’re treated the same. That’s why I’ve remained loyal to Porsche Willoughby and Grant Coulson. The dealership feels more like an exclusive club than a showroom. The service is exceptional.
Clients at this level of the market are looking for genuine, high-value pieces—not mass-produced imitations. They want individuality, craftsmanship, and something that stands the test of time.

Frank is currently working on redesigning ruby earrings for a client, which he expects will take about a month to complete. Redesigning is something Frank does frequently, from costume jewellery to heirlooms, clients bring Frank many different pieces. He may be threading pearls one day and be working with rubies the next, keeping him on his toes. A recent acquisition is an 8-carat heart-shaped emerald purchased at auction. It’s currently being certified as Frank does not sell anything without evidence of origin. He shares that he also works with some offshore manufacturers.
Aside from the extensive jewellery on display, Frank has some unique pieces on display in the boutique too. We asked about some of his favourites.
“I love this Rosenthal vase called Fast, it really captures motion. It looks like it’s moving. There is also the happy Minnie Mouse –she makes me smile. It’s all about enjoying life. The cockatoos are another favourite. I’m not usually into porcelain, but these are so realistic and add a touch of whimsy to the shop.”
Frank then also pointed out a special light – 5,000 carats of green beryl, made in the 1920s. Frank found this piece at an estate sale in Sydney and has owned it for 25 years.
Frank shares that he styled the store with his partner who restrained him a bit. Frank was considering de Grounay wallpaper but scaled it back. They redesigned the whole space; walls, floor, ceilings. Frank tells us for him it’s about blending textures, metals, fabrics and colour and he finds it pleasurable to get the balance right. The store also displays some interesting furniture, including a French semainier which is a lockable seven-drawer lingerie unit dating back to when servants may steal. One drawer for each day of the week.
When we start talking Porsche, Frank confirms that his first was a Panamera. “Yes, it was about 15 years ago. I traded in a Mercedes-Benz for a black Panamera.” Unfortunately, Frank’s Panamera attracted a bit of bad luck, with less attentive drivers making unwanted contact with the Porsche. After a short while, Frank swapped to a white Panamera instead and has not experienced a single issue since.
When it was time to consider a change from the Panamera, Frank’s love of the Mission E concept made the decision for him, the Porsche Taycan. Frank’s choice of Frozen Blue was a striking and distinctive option. The inspiration for the colour choice draws from “the colour of my shop’s walls and really brings out the car’s lines. The black trim sets it off nicely. I’ve had plenty of compliments—one customer from New Zealand even painted his wonderful boat the same colour. The Taycan’s performance, plus not having to stop for petrol, was a huge appeal.
I rarely drive great distances, so I don’t need to charge often. I’ve done a longer trip to the Southern Highlands. While I’m still getting used to finding charging stations, the experience has been great overall. My favourite feature is the Burmester sound
Whether it is a Macan or a 911 GT3, you’re treated the same. That’s why I’ve remained loyal to Porsche Willoughby and Grant Coulson.
system, it’s unbelievable. I wouldn’t order another car without it. Now I’m considering a second one—I’ll be speaking to Grant about that and with longer ranges on the new models, it will make those longer trips even easier.”
Frank Robinson’s approach to both jewellery and styling showcases his appreciation for craftsmanship and individuality. His ability to blend textures and elements with ease reflects his refined taste and commitment to quality, whether in his showroom or behind the wheel of a Porsche.

On Saturday 5 April 2025, the heart of Mosman was buzzing—not just from the usual weekend market activity, but from the quiet hum of performance, courtesy of Porsche Centre Willoughby. From 8am to 3pm, the team brought two brandnew all-electric Porsche Macan models to the popular Mosman Market, giving locals a rare opportunity to get up close with the future of Porsche mobility.
Positioned among the artisan stalls and vibrant local fare, the all-electric Macan models stood out not just for their unmistakable Porsche silhouette, but for what they represent: a bold step forward into the electric era, without sacrificing the emotion and engagement the marque is known for.
“We wanted to be where the community is,” said Michael Boardman, Porsche Centre Willoughby’s Sales Specialist. “This wasn’t about a showroom sell. It was about starting a conversation. We asked people what they thought of EVs, and especially what they thought of this car—its styling, its purpose, and whether they saw a Porsche in their electric future.”
Reactions were curious, thoughtful and in many cases, enthusiastic. A steady stream of passers-by stopped to examine the sleek new shape, ask questions, and even sit inside.
“I wasn’t expecting to see Porsche at the markets,” said Louise Carmichael, a local Mosman resident. “But it makes sense—this area loves its cars, and a lot of people here are starting to take EVs seriously. I’ve driven a few, but this Macan... it actually feels like a proper car, not just a screen on wheels.”
Children peered through the windows, admiring the high-tech interior, while parents quizzed staff about charging times, performance, and Porsche's EV infrastructure. One man, pushing a pram and wearing a Cayenne GTS cap, leaned in and whispered, “I didn’t think I'd like it. But this thing’s properly cool.
One particularly memorable interaction came when a woman approached the team with a bit of apprehension. “I was sent over,” she laughed. “My cafe group saw the cars from across the market and made me come ask why Porsche was here. You know my husband’s had so many over the years." A happy occurrence throughout the day where we welcomed existing, previous and possibly future PCW clients.
This new Macan is Porsche’s next major move in its electric strategy, built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. With performance that honours the badge on the bonnet, and styling that references the Macan’s compact SUV legacy, the EV Macan is equal parts sportscar and urban sophistication.
“Many weren't aware that Porsche now has an electric offering in this sized SUV sector,” said Bonita Jones, Porsche Willoughby Marketing and Events Manager. “For us it has been a wonderful opportunity to share that knowledge and to allow a wider audience to become more familiar with our product. Visitors were pleasantly surprised with the styling and appearance of the Macan—comments like, ‘Oh wow, it’s actually really good looking,’ came up, which is exactly the reaction we were hoping for.”
While questions about EV range, cost, and charging remain common, the reaction on the day leaned overwhelmingly positive. The presence of Porsche at a local market gave people an unexpected and relaxed chance to engage with the future of the brand—and in doing so, helped remove some of the hesitation that can come with major automotive change.
“I’ve got three petrol cars at home,” said one visitor. “But I can see this slotting in quite naturally. It’s a solid electric option.”
From curious onlookers to diehard fans, the Mosman Market activation proved that Porsche's electric future isn’t just about powertrains—it’s about people, conversation, and continuing to stir emotion. Even silently.
