Introduction
Post Graduate Campus is situated in the city of Gandhinagar, in Gujarat. The campus is spread over 11,362 square meters. Campus consists of Lifestyle Accessory Design, Apparel Design & Merchandising, New media design, Toy and Game Design, Strategic Design Management, Transportation Design disciplines. The campus being relatively new the structure is still subjected to many changes in the future according to the institute requirement. The main area focused was on directional signages in the campus. Currently there are 3 functional zones: MAIN BUILDING TRANSIT CAMPUS: place for many extra curricular activities and also for the Mess and Canteen RESIDENTIAL AREA: Hostel, Faculty residence The recent addition of the Amphitheatre, Auditorium and NIDUS also had to be accommodated.

Methodology Studying the layout of the campus Before starting to design the signages, it was important to study the layout of the entire campus. Knowing which places are the most accessed by whom and what kind of information is expected for a first time user to navigate without any hindrance.

Key Signage Design Elements Once the information was streamlined according to the need, the following Design elements were considered for the further development of signages:
Typography Colour Icon Set Maps
Typography A detailed study of existing national and international guidelines and best practices was done in context to font selection. After considering many suitable fonts, Frutiger fonts were finalised. Frutiger family has 19 typefaces. It’s the most widely used font across the globe; the Swiss road signs, BAA Airports in UK to name amongst the few. The different variants and the narrow version makes it a perfect font for rigorous applications ina complex sigange system This has also been used by NID in the signages at the main Paldi campus. The use of this font also helps in maintaining the uniformity in the visual language amongst the different NID campuses.

Kohinoor Devanagari font
Selection of a proper Devanagari font was very crucial keeping in mind the latin typeface, Frutiger. The font finalised was Kohinoor Devanagari Font. The even stroke weight makes it appropraite to read and functional in complex signage system.
