1. Negative marking is applicable to wrong answers. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks assigned to that question which is answered wrongly.

2. If you leave a question blank, there would be no penalty charged for the question.

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Candidates who qualify for IBPS Clerk Preliminary exams will be selected for Mains exams.

Last Minute Tips For IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam 2017: Section Wise tips Numerical Ability: 1. The trick to scoring well in the Numerical ability is to attempt tougher questions first like Quadratic equations, simplification, and approximation and then move on to the number series.

2. After attempting the questions on Quadratic Equations, Simplification and Approximation attempt the questions in Data Interpretation. There can be anywhere around 10 to 15 questions on Data Interpretation. In Data interpretations, 2 sets of questions are easy to solve, while the third one is always very difficult.

3. Other questions will be based on miscellaneous topics like Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Time and work, Pipes and Cisterns, Partnership, etc 4. A student must spend not more than 25-30 minutes on this section.

Reasoning Ability:

1. In Reasoning section, it is always advisable to attempt the easy questions first and eventually move on to the difficult ones. Begin with questions on inequalities, direction and distance, syllogism, codingdecoding, alphanumeric series and other topics.

2. Solving easy questions first will give you the ability to manage your time. Do not spend more than 20 minutes on Reasoning ability.

English Language: Take Bank Exams Mock Tests

1. The Reading Comprehension is the most important section of the English language followed by cloze test. Other topics in English section include Error Detection, Para jumbles, Phrase Replacement, Double Fillers, etc.

2. Work on your grammar like Parts of Speech, Subject-verb agreement and adjectives.

It is advisable to spend not more than 15 minutes on this section.
