LOCATION CHENGALPATTU SITE AREA 9ACRES

Juvenile Home

where the opportunity for reform is greater, a new design strategy centered around rehabilitation should be forefront in this argument. The main objective in the design and operating processes of this juvenile detention center will be focused around the successful rehabilitation of the center’s population through rehabilitative instead of correctional treatment methods.

As the facility houses fewer and fewer inmates, the complex will transform in phases to become a functioning community center focused on keeping kids out of the penal system.

The architecture of this project will utilize prefabricated qualities to serve a juvenile detention center and then a community center, two physically differing applications.

The school has one main corridor with all the classrooms and offices with glass facades feeding off of it at angles to create multi-functional interstitial spaces.

There are a series of interior courtyards to flood the building with natural light while not being safety or control issues; these also serve to ventilate the building.

Aside from classrooms, this facility includes a media center and school shop.

The spiritual center should be thought of as just that, and be multi-purpose for use by the different religious orientations.The spiritual center be aware of the religious diversity, and meet those demands through the use of zoning. Natural lighting is key as in any spiritual center, to set ambiance.The color, surfaces, and forms will be soft and classical, in an attempt to normalize this area.

Non-uniformed lighting and low luminance in the user's zone will give a needed private quality to the space.
