Test Format:
Items are rated on a 6-point scale ranging from 1 = "Not at All True" to 6 = "Totally True." All items are positively worded and are not reversed scored. The IBT-R has a range of 43 to 258 with a midpoint cutoff of 150.5. Scores above 150.5 are indicative of higher levels of resilience. Scores below 150.5 are indicative of lower levels of resilience.

Identity Behavior Theory Resilience Scale (IBT-R)
To develop a resilience scale, it is recommended to use the following items and write the target behavior into the blanks. An IBT resilience scale comprises a personal strength subscale and a support subscale. Examples of personal strength include agency, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and self-esteem. Examples of support include connecting with others (family, friends, partners, etc.), having access to resources, and wanting support.
Using the following scale, rate each item by selecting the appropriate number.

Score Guide for Identity Behavior Theory Resilience Scale (IBT-R)
The IBT-R assesses individuals’ levels of resilience concerning a target behavior. The IBT-R has 43 Likert-type scale items. The IBT-R has a range of 43 to 258 with a midpoint cutoff of 150.5. Scores above 150.5 are indicative of higher levels of resilience. Scores below 150.5 are indicative of lower levels of resilience. The IBT-R has a Personal Strength subscale (IBT-PS) and a Support subscale (IBT-S).
The IBT-PS has 24 Likert-type scale items and assesses individuals’ levels of personal strength concerning a target behavior. Personal strength comprises agency, emotional regulation, selfcompassion, and self-efficacy. The IBT-PS scores range from 24 to 144 with a midpoint cutoff score of 84 IBT-PS scores above 84 indicate that individuals have higher levels of personal strength IBT-PS scores below 84 indicate that individuals have lower levels of personal strength
The IBT-S has 19 Likert-type scale items and assesses individuals’ levels of social support concerning a target behavior. The IBT-S scores range from 19 to 114 with a midpoint cutoff score of 66.5 IBT-S scores above 66.5 indicate that individuals have higher levels of social support IBT scores below 66.5 indicate that individuals have lower levels of social support
