Village troglodytique médiéval de la Madeleine Ce site naturel exceptionnel a attiré les hommes de la préhistoire à aujourd’hui. Au pied d’un abri sous roche, au bord de la Vézère, se trouve le gisement préhistorique qui a donné son nom à une époque de la préhistoire : le Magdalénien, des chasseurs cueilleurs semi-nomades s’y étant installés il y a 17 000 ans. A mi-hauteur de la falaise on découvre un véritable village troglodytique, aménagé par l’Homme et habité du Moyen Âge jusqu’à la fin du 19ème siècle. Le bâtiment le plus remarquable est une chapelle gothique du 15ème accrochée à la falaise. Sur le plateau, reste les vestiges du château de Petit-Marzac construit au 13ème siècle. The prehistoric site of la Madeleine, which gave its name to a period of prehistory, the Magdalenian, is located beneath a rock shelter, on the banks of the river Vézère, where semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers settled 17,000 years age. Halfway up the cliff there is an actual troglodyte village, built by humans and inhabited from the Middle Ages to the end of the 19th century. The most remarkable building is a gothic chapel from the 15th century built into to the cliff. On the top of the cliff lie the remnants of the Petit-Marzac castle, built in the 13th century.
