REDEMPTION

"Redemption" is a built public art project in Huntington, NY. It was designed as a response to call for proposals by the town to commemorate African American history. A team of 6 designers touched every part of the project, from the initial charettes, to refinement, fabrication, and installation.

The project relies on historical archives and community engagement. It was chosen from a pool of submissions to a call for proposals.
Steel panels enclose a space with their arrangement, and stamped out words catch light from both sides in order to shed light on the past, present, and future. Members of the community were asked to share their words and knowledge to contribute to the design

Redesign Challenge

Selective Density
Selective Density is an urban fabric design solution, proposing ways to selectively intensify the density of our cities. This projects primarily tackles the spatial challenges brought on by vacant lots with strange conditions.

After assessing the vacant lands of Philadelphia's city center, a series of building and built environment typologies were developed to begin thinking about the design process of filling these irregular lots.

Walk In The Park

Walk in the park is a type of contemporary dance that involves leading and following, creating and copying. It can seem eternal, twisted, going in and out of the moment. Similar to this kind of choreography, this pathway dances in and out of the ground in order to submerge its users into nature by bringing pieces and forms of the landscape into the path, and utilizing the sound of water to drown out the noise of traffic to give the experience of the path a breath of life.
