We decided to work on this beast also with our slalom team and then having Ricardo Campello to finalize its profile and geometry for optimal wave sailing. A new true adventure. Having a dedicated wave sail to bring non-pro wave sailors to have an automatic pilot to go and hit that lip. Not only the power to have the right drive through a bottom turn but allowing to go as radical as being on a four-batten wave sail without being too technical wave sailors. The Salt is there for the pro wave sailors, so there was no need to try to make the same sail in 5 battens. Thanks to Ricardo, the comfort of the sail in rough conditions, the speed in the rotation for executing moves, is making this 5-batten wave sail become an amazing handling and powerful sail. I’m really stoked about the performance of the new Slash! We managed to stiffen up the middle leach even further allowing more power especially when entering the second move of the sequence. The sail makes freestyle much more fun, because the combination from great control combined with power in the right position, makes the sail perfect for all kind of moves from old school to all the newest moves. Thanks to the new performance I was able to bring my freestyle to the next level and it really showed in the events. We really looked to make the sail to perform in every condition, because I like to switch up between flat water freestyle, choppy conditions are even freestyle in the waves. Freestyle is getting more extreme.

The reason of softness means that the sail is also feeling lighter and has a chance to have more profile in lighter wind. The extra profile allows the power to get planning early. In the last years, we have been working towards a total non-compromise racing sail. We took the sail to have such an outstanding performance that it just gave the extra boost to the fussiest and fastest riders. It was all about no compromise. The foil itself, the tensions of the sail, have today allowed to be redesigned on a 3-cam and 7-batten set up. Taking out 1 cam and 1 batten, it kept the racing grunt from the AC-One alive but donated the extra comfort. The feeling of a freeride easy sail, with lots of racing horse power. The sail is as stable as it can be dreamed off. Does not matter where the wind comes from, nor the gust intensity, you are able to stay in your stance and position without applying any effort, and the board will keep its balance over the water. The new AC-One is delivering a much higher speed than anyone else would expect, and be amazed by its speed in the lighter wind…We did it again!

High quality windsurfing masts are mainly manufactured in Italy. Our supplier is based in Italy and produces in Italy. Most of the masts might look the same, but often produced by different manufactures with different machinery, materials, and technology. The mast is a very important accessory for our rig. It’s the back bone of your windsurfing sail. The same as having a suit tailor made. A large 9m slalom sail have different qualities and performance characteristics from a 5m slalom sail which is used in strong wind. The curve and stiffness of the mast needs to be developed accordingly. Our curves are progressive, and each mast length has a specific curve to work best in that specific condition. Shorter mast lengths are having softer bases and stiffer tops to guarantee comfort and stability, longer mast lengths are stiffer in the base and softer in the top to give more power in light winds and breathing of the sail. From now our mast lines have the bend curve printed on them, so you will know more of the product you are buying!

BLACKPRIME
100% CARBON
No compromise in its performance. Racing, best reflex and light weight. If you choose this mast it’s because you want to dominate in speed and acceleration. As the gusts hits the sail, the mast will help convert this power into speed and keep the sail lighter whilst maintaining full control. The Blackprime is constructed using a third extra layer of carbon in the top section of the mast. This is meant to accelerate the reflex of the upper leach of the sail and supply extra acceleration and speed to the entire rig. % CARBON The high carbon content and quality of this mast will ensure durability and a good reflex that will lighten the feeling of any rig. The BlackCore mast range comprises an 80% carbon content and is produced to the exact specifications of the Point-7 standards for bend-curve and hardness. The performance against the BlackPrime is very minimal and can only be measured with a clock, it will not be felt. Advantages gained from a higher glass content and lower carbon percentage, is that the masts are better protected against breakage but thereby also a little slower in its response than a pure carbon mast. •

The first target from the Point-7 Black Team when developing a boom is the curve. This is not about having a curve from the new generation as many might call it. It’s about having a curve which allows your front and back arm to sit in a natural ergonomic position while sailing, automatically positioning the sail at the right angle for the wind to enter and exit the sail. This position varies with the wind strength and windsurfing discipline, so each boom size needs to be developed accordingly. The needs of a wave boom’s curve is very different from the curve for a slalom boom, just like a slalom boom for strong wind is very different from a boom for light wind slalom - one needs to offer control and the other power. Developing the right curve brings comfort and, respectively, performance. We have developed the correct tail width to suit each boom size and its uses. The width of the back end of a boom is very important - the wider, the more power; the narrower, the more control. We have studied each size to fit best the sail sizes it’s designed for. Diameter is another important factor as it does bring comfort to the forearms and saves wasting energy whilst out on the water. At Point-7 we have developed our boom using the Octatube – a carbon tube shape with 8 sides, designed to ergonomically fit the natural shape of the hand when gripping. We vary the diameter used according to the discipline; 25mm for the wave boom, 27mm on the 170-slalom boom, and 29mm on the two larger sizes of the slalom boom.

THE 2.0 VERSION OF OUR EXTENSION: HEAVY DUTY, SMART, SAFE Having the right tools, is half the work done. The Point-7 extensions are based on a very simple indestructible system that is quick and simple to use and allows for effortless downhaul, even on very big sails. The pulley and cleat system is attached directly onto the aluminium tubing, with no crossing lines. With the brass rollers, downhaul efforts are reduced to the absolute minimum. The extension tubes are made with strong T8 grade aluminium and are available in lengths of 32 cm/48 cm with adjustment increments for every 2.5cm. The extensions can be sailed at the full 32cm or 48cm extension heights and are supplied with the original Marlow 3.8mm Formuline rope.
