Talk about things lost to time Because “you didn’t hear me.” Question in between the lines. Gently unfocused feeling Three snack bags more for the road Two eyes on the rushing lanes One highway interchange

Blink and there’s forty miles gone Blink and the radio croons Listen to the muffled Combustion ‘neath my feet Sleep and dream of solid ground A snap of in-between time Here I see fields, green and rows Once, I saw mountains so close that hanging branches brushed the roof Another trip, I saw houses and condos and apartments. Isn’t this familiar?
