5 What a term, time flies by and Christmas is already upon us. Please see below for an update on what’s happening from my end and as always I welcome any feedback you may have or any issues you are currently having.

What I have been up to: •

I am continuously engaging with the community having been part of the Town Team Initiative which students are a vital component to its’ success.

I have continued to re-structure the internal operations of the union which has a lot more to it than initially anticipated but we are now a far more efficient union than ever before.

I have attended many meetings on your behalf including a Joint Policing Committee, Student Services meetings and senior management.

What I am currently doing: •

I am currently tying up all our loose ends in preparation for the new term so we can excel from January 6th onwards.

am hosting a SVP Toy Appeal where all toys will be donated to the Carlow community, please donate to those who are badly in need.

I am working through a large number of issues that classes are having. Please make sure you read the complaints & appeals procedure in your handbook so that you can tackle issues before they become any more distressing for you or your classmates.

Looking ahead: •

I will be spending the full Christmas period planning the term ahead, setting up the RAG Week committee, liaising with Student Services and presenting our finances to the Institute.

I will be in office up until the 23rd of December and back on January 2nd where I will be more than happy to assist you with any issue. I will also be contactable via mobile & e-mail over the Christmas period.

So since you last heard from me I have finished the Christmas Ball were having before we break up. I have organised to meet with the officials in Gorwan Park about our race day and have set a preliminary date so far.

I organised and ran the Movmeber Awards we had on campus and looked after the music we had. I have been flooded with hoodie orders also. Apart from that I have been dealing with Students looking to organise Christmas parties and have dealing with students in general.

Thursday & Friday I took part in Asist which is suicide prevention training in Athlone and found this to be very beneficial. On Saturday I attended Nation Council in Athlone alongside much other College’s in the Country.

I’m looking into Events we can host after Christmas both on and off campus.

Getting a date and location set for the purposed mystery tour.

Finishing off a proposal to get some speakers and Mic’s in the Su for on campus entertainment.

I’m working on a poster to encourage students to make the most of their Student Discount Card. I’m also looking to expand the businesses involved in using the card.

Looking ahead for next week •

Next week I have meetings scheduled with the Dinn Ri and Gorwan Park.

I plan to work alongside Sandy in updating our Leaflet stand.

I plan on finishing off a proposal to get some art work placed in the Students’ Union

What I have been up to. •

This week on campus we had a Christmas day followed by the Christmas ball. It was a great day and such a good atmosphere for everyone involved.

Also we had Chats for change, giving students tea bags to sit down and have a chat with a friend. The message is that you don’t need to be a professional to help someone. It was very effective and nice to see it have an impact.

What I am up to. •

I have some training planned and working on events for the New Year. Also still attending the mature student meet ups each Thursday.

What I will be doing. •

Holding more mature student meet ups and also planning plenty of events and campaigns for the new year.
