INTERIOR

taking existing shear rectangular geometry and exposing roof structure organized interior layout, framed multi-function furniture pieces and further accommodated lighting system and feature wall to provide a pleasant enviroment for living room

RESIDENTIAL

by preserved existing structure and baroque architecture: ballroom and palm court introducing oblique lines into both plan and section regulated occupants’ daily routine occupants were able to control individual privacy through a sliding translucent panel in plan, these lines indicated circulation paths leading to designated programs in section, these lines turned into a series of furniture sets modified accordingly also, the negative space in-between floor plates and furniture slabs further utilized as new ventilation system to refreshening Live & Work apartments

ARCHITECTURE

providing a interstitial space: the sculpture garden created a transition in-between exterior circulation and interior program by implementing two types of cladding system exterior circulation paths further generated different transparency & privacy accordingly to interior program’s needs since sculpture garden was accessiable to general public, it not only served as a connection within exterior and interior space but also initiated more interactions and communications between students who studied in los angeles art and craft insititute

RESEARCH CENTER

taking the existing freeway exit’s angle to eastablish the boundary arround the drum also extenting original durm’s elevation points to redefine shoreline the drum served as transitional space connecting water nature environment at one side and human living environment at the other side further the series of offset-path openings and exhibition space were strategies of inviting sunlight into housing units and sublevel, providing views back to the city, and blending private and public space the sophistication of generating functions programmatically from its initial state illustrated the importance of chicago waterfront research center
