“A little church with a big heart”

Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church is a caring community of Christians called to reach out to all people in our community and, as much as possible, the world. We welcome everyone, without exception, to worship here. Jesus showed us the gracious love of God for all people. We are called to do the same by helping others here and throughout the world and extending ourselves to each other as a church family. Our worship is Christ-centered in the Lutheran tradition of emphasis on the Sunday Gospel and music. Sermons are original and based on Bible scholarship. We offer Christian education that is challenging and thoughtprovoking.

Our book discussion groups are stimulating, and video presentations help us better understand the history and values of the Christian life. We work tirelessly with local organizations to share God’s love. Our congregation helps with and supports the Sequim Food Bank, Lutheran Community Services, Sequim Health and Wellness Clinic and other community organizations. We open our facilities for AA, NA and Al-Anon meetings, MOSAIC, and the Gay Straight Alliance for youth. Handmade quilts, school kits and baby kits are distributed through Lutheran World Relief. We are a “little church with a big heart.” God’s work. Our hands.

"The fundamental purpose animating the Faith of God and His Religion is to safeguard the interests and promote the unity of the human race, and to foster the spirit of love and fellowship amongst men." - Baha'u'llah

The Baha’i Faith

The conviction that we belong to one human family is at the heart of the Baha'i Faith. The principle of the oneness of humankind is "the pivot round which the teachings of Baha'u'llah revolve…"

One Loving Creator sends One Unfolding Religion to guide One Human Family

The Baha'i Faith began with the mission entrusted by God to two Divine Messengers – the Bab and Baha'u'llah. The Bab is the Herald of the Baha'i Faith. Baha'u'llah – the "Glory of God" – is the Promised One foretold by the Bab and all of the Divine Messengers of the past. On October 22, 2017, in some 100,000 localities worldwide, including Port Angeles, Sequim and other communities of the North Olympic Peninsula, Baha'is will celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Baha'u'llah, the Founder of the Baha'i Faith.

Gather ye together, and for the sake of God resolve to root out whatever is the source of contention amongst you. Church of Christ Port Angeles MEETING TIMES: Sunday 9:30 AM Bible Classes for all ages Sunday 10:45 AM Worship Wednesday 7:00 PM Praise and Prayer

PURPOSE: We are a group of committed disciples of Jesus who love the Lord and love other people. BELIEFS:

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our only authority for life and doctrine. As a result, we are trying to be Christians only and restore the New Testament church, united on the foundational principles of Scripture recorded in Ephesians 4:4-6.

“There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

Five Unity Principles GOD IS – There is only One Presence and One Power in the Universe and in my life: God the Good, Omnipotence. I AM – We are Spiritual Beings created in God’s Image. The Spirit of God lives in each person, therefore, all people are inherently good. I Think – We create our perception of our life experiences through our thinking and feeling. I Pray – There is Divine Power in meditation and affirmative prayer which increases our awareness of our oneness with God. I Live It – Knowing and Understanding is important; AND Practice what you learn; Teach what you know.

Every person has a longing to be significant; to make a contribution; to be a part of something noble and purposeful. John C. Maxwell We were created in God’s own image so that we might have the capacity to be in an ongoing relationship with Him. The simple yet sad truth is that many of us have settled for living according to our own standards instead of His. We may feel some sense of pride or accomplishment in having “done it my way” but it will always be a lesser result than if we had done it His way. Learning to do it His way is a journey of discovery. If that journey interests you let me invite you to come along as we discover together the significance that only a life lived for God can bring. We meet each Sunday at 10:45 am and are located just north of the Sequim Public Library. We look forward to traveling this journey with you.

That sounds rather lofty, rather grand. I think that for some of us it may even sound unrealistic and unattainable. We have given up on significance and are just trying to make it through. Existence is the new goal for our lives. Yet even as we set our sights on lowered expectations I believe that there is a deeper longing that we have simply buried deeper into our souls. I believe the Bible shares the reason why we desire significance. We were created for that purpose. Look at our creation. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

Lutherans recognize the many contradictions and idiosyncrasies we encounter daily. A simple division in ‘good’ and ‘bad’ does not do justice to the complexity of life. Lutherans think that all people are sinners and saints at the same time. In one moment they are capable to do incredible deeds of love and in the next moment they act as if their selfish egos were the center of the universe. We always live in the tension of this paradox. The great unifier of the human race is the fact that we all are sinners. Falling short of the glory of God is one thing we all have in common. Because we know we are not better than other people it doesn’t make sense to judge and to condemn, but to welcome all who seek God. We invite you to experience God’s amazing grace in Word and Sacrament, in worship and prayer, in fellowship and social advocacy that brings God’s justice to a hurting world. Help us do God’s work with our hands. You are welcome to come as you are. Bring your darkness and your light, and you don’t have to check your brain at the door. We can handle doubts and questions and even outright unbelief. We don’t give you shallow rules, but together we will build a mature faith that will sustain you in our increasingly complex and secular world.

The philosopher Paul Ricœur calls faith a wager. Lutherans put their money on Jesus. To have faith means for us to trust in Jesus’ promise that a loving God freely bestows his gift of grace on all people. This is truly good news in a society that fiercely believes that you only get what you deserve. Lutheranism is entirely for the underserving. We share in Christ’s resurrection just because God loves us. This perspective on the human condition makes Lutheran theology unique.

We offer a large variety of small groups, classes, special events, and concerts to help people of all generations grow in faith and be active in the community. Our preschool provides a solid Christian education. We are blessed to work with many local mission partners and so we help to transform Port Angeles into a just, healthy and creative community. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We have been an active part of the Port Angeles Community since 1894.

If you just take one thing away from this ad let it be this: God's grace is upon you! ALWAYS! There is NOTHING you can do or say to lose God's love. Humans will hate you if you don't get your beliefs right, but GOD WILL NOT! If someone tells you otherwise, they're most probably not LUTHERAN.

Long time Lutherans, Christians from every tradition, and people new to the faith

1. As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life. 2. We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God’s image and likeness. 3. We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts. 4. We acknowledge Jesus’ atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man’s unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death. 5. We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter. 6. And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure. * From the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. (pp. 496-497)

The church of Christ in Sequim started when a small number of Christians opened the Bible as their only guide in matters of faith and doctrine and wanted to be truly and only Christians. Each church of Christ is an autonomous group of believers that provides its own leaders, makes its own decisions and chooses its activities from Bible teaching. We honestly desire to be faithful to God’s purposes, to Jesus’ Lordship, and to the Bible’s message. New Testament Christians were human as we are. You will find that our members, as in the first century church, reflect every level of spiritual development. Hopefully, all of our members are mutually committed to growing spiritually and serving Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. Have you been looking for the New Testament Church?

We are a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. We believe and teach that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The Word of God teaches that we are all conceived and born sinful and are under the power of the devil until Christ claims us as his own. We would be lost forever unless delivered from sin, death and everlasting condemnation. But the Father of all mercy and grace has sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who atoned for the sin of the whole world, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Faith Lutheran Church and Preschool exist to help people find meaning, purpose and direction throughout life as we journey through life on our way to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our many and varied ministries exist to give practical strength, direction and help to real people who live their lives daily with spouses, family, school and work.

Crab harvesting is typically best in Sequim and Dungeness bays, but you can also find Dungeness and red rock crabs elsewhere along the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Port Townsend to Neah Bay. Many people enjoy wading for crabs at low tide at Dungeness Bay in Sequim and Pillar Point County Park in Clallam Bay, while others prefer the use of crab pots and ring traps. For crab seasons, check the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations pamphlet.

List your services and information. It’s a great opportunity to let tourists (and residents, too!) know where they can worship while visiting the Olympic Peninsula. PENINSULA DAILY NEWS & SEQUIM GAZETTE

The founder of the Catholic Church is Jesus Christ. Our Church structure is ecclesiastical in nature.

Queen of Angels Parish

The Church’s mission is to glorify God and sanctify souls; to bring the message of Jesus

Rev. Dennis Robb, Pastor

to the ends of the earth; to make disciples of all nations.

We believe God is a Holy Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Christ institut-

ed seven Sacraments, which bring us God’s grace, and that as children of God, we are saved by grace, through faith.

The origin of our Catholic Faith and belief comes from Holy Scripture, Holy Tradition, and

the Magisterium of the Church. The Eucharist, Holy Communion, is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith.

The Catholic community of Port Angeles built their first church in 1891. That building

was sold to the County in 1892 for use as the courthouse during the downtown reconstruction period. Queen of Angels Parish has been at its present location at 11th and Oak Street Streets since 1950. At the time “The Holy Angels Church” in Port Angeles was established, the Sequim area was considered part of that parish. A mission church was built in 1916; in 1966 a new mission church was erected; and in 1976, after 60 years as a mission church, St. Joseph was established as a full parish. In July 2011 the two parishes were appointed a single pastor to oversee each parish, and one year later a regional staffing model was implemented with one administrative staff for the two parishes. Today, the two parishes remain separate entities with their own identities, continuing to work as part of the universal Church by combining efforts on committees, consistency in policies, a single weekly bulletin, and joint celebration of Sacraments, etc.

School, Service Groups & Ministries: We have a variety of service groups, programs and ministries offered between the two parishes. Parishioners serve the Church as lay ministers at Mass and liturgies; as coordinators for sacramental preparation; as volunteer teachers of religious education and other faith formation groups; in service to the poor; etc. Between the two parishes we have well over 100 groups comprising very active parish communities. Please visit Queen of Angels Catholic School website for information about the school itself: www.qofaschool.org
