POULSBO — Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson said she shared with city employees information about a former city clerk’s resignation to quell rumors floating around City Hall about the circumstances regarding the clerk’s departure. That has the former clerk’s husband crying foul, saying the circumstances behind his wife’s resignation are confidential. “She’s really upset,” Andrew Stephens said of his wife, Nicole, Jan. 15, calling the sharing of documents related to her resignation “illegal.”

OULSBO — Ardis Morrow’s extensive community service resume runs deep. But she still did not anticipate the standing ovation of the entire hotel’s banquet room when she was awarded Person of the Year, at the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce’s annual gala and community awards dinner at Clearwater Casino Resort, Jan. 16. An estimated 300 people attended. ”I really am flattered to be included with the other two nominees and to hear their obituaries while I’m still alive,” Morrow, 90, jokingly said of the other candidates and their bios. Glimmering in her gold dress, she said, “But really, this is a great privilege, thank you.” Morrow, a former Port of Kingston commissioner and North Kitsap School

Viking Cup will return Memorial Day weekend By RICHARD WALKER
rwalker@northkitsapherald.com
POULSBO — The old Memorial Day weekend soccer tournament is so last decade that if you ask a youth soccer player what a Viking Cup is, they’d probably say a cream cheesefilled cinnamon roll from Sluys Bakery. Ah, but the Viking Cup soccer tournament, which traditionally attracted teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia, is returning. Look for 40 teams of all levels — premier, select, developmental and summer tournament — to converge on Poulsbo this Memorial Day weekend. See VIKING CUP, Page A13
