It’s time to shop. But instead of heading to the mall, or staying home and shopping online, fill your gift needs by shopping at some locally owned and operated stores in the Port Orchard community. Here’s a sampling of what some of them have to offer: Revisited Antiques & Furniture 738 Bay St., Port Orchard Phone: 360-552-2305 This is the place to go to if you have someone on your list that likes old things, or collects a bit of the weird and strange. A mixture of antiques and collectibles, there’s a large section of turquoise jewelry, including rings in a variety of sizes and prices. For that favorite nephew who collects Coca Cola items, there’s an entire collection for sale. Included is a Danbury Mint 1940s Coke salesman’s replica car at $180. The store also has a vintage Elina Sewing Machine in grasshopper green for $115, complete with a carrying case. For the fishing enthusiast, there’s a collection of antique fly fishing rods, beginning at $60. Add in an old Vintage Eskimo-brand cooler ice chest at $125, and he’ll be ready to hit the lake. The store also has a great selection of old tools, including a wood-handled hatchet for $45 and an antique wooden C-clamp for $100. And in case you know someone who collects Lionel electric trains, this is the place. Pieces start at $25 and there’s even a 1991 Season’s Greetings train car with Santa. At the back of the store there are shelves and shelves filled with bottles — old medicine bottles, soda pop bottles and milk bottles. A WB Paine & Co. Druggists medicine bottle from early Aberdeen is $8. A pop bottle from MoHawk Valla Beverage Co. of New York is $10 and a pint-sized glass milk bottle from the Scudder Ranch in Yakima is $17. For that person on your list who likes mechanical things, how about a Viewmaster 20th Century Stereo Viewer at $48? That includes a back-up viewer and about 85 reels of sights to view. If you’ve got a joker on your list, try giving him a 1960s brocade smoking jacket in blue and black satin. It’s never been worn and sells for $38. The tag reads: “Just like Howard Hughes wore.” This store also has music CDs in round cases for $17.95 each. Included are Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore.” Try the Platters, or music for “Cocktail Parties,” and the “Men of Jazz.” Crazy Lady Galleries 724 Bay St., Port Orchard Phone: 360-443-2249 www.crazyladygalleries.com A great showcase of local artists’ work, this gallery has some original

work by John Bushnell of Bremerton. Local scenes and nature are among the acrylics he does. One favorite is “Green Window,” at $90. For the cat lover on your list, try some wearable art by Jeff Haynie. Pendants with cat faces, some of them whimsical like the Zombie Kitty, hang from chains and go for $22. Choose from a black or orange face cat, or even striped. Don’t pass by the work of Colleen Smith and Michelle Metzdorf. It’s called TemperTemper and are unique tempered glass creations. The process involves hand layering images, fabrics, paint and glass in a mosaic fashion. One large wall art piece called “Jazz” sells for $575. Seaside Blonde (formerly Oatmeal Girls) 728 Bay St., Port Orchard Phone: 360-865-9355 Most of what’s in the store is made by the owner, including the very popular vintage lace tops, made from lacy tablecloths. They can be worn over other blouses in any season and tie at the neck with colorful satin ribbons. They sell for $42 to $48. Initial necklaces are another popular item. The pendants hang from chains and you can pick from a variety of letters. An array of colorful beads can be purchased

to be added to the necklaces. And they come in cute homemade gift bags made from pages of Amy Vanderbuilt’s Book of Etiquette. The owner has also created some beautiful decorative bottles, complete with sea shells attached atop them. Some are brown glass and some are clear. They are made of vintage medicine bottles and begin at $12, depending on size. Get several to arrange on a bedroom dresser for a nice conversation piece. The front of the shop is filled with beautiful jewelry and accessories and this store recently moved to this

is Lallie Mae’s, a women’s boutique that includes clothing, shoes and jewelry. There’s also some gifts like handmade soaps. Try a bar of vegan or goat’s milk soap for $4.95. The soaps are made in Washington and come in a variety of fragrances (lemongrass, patchouli, rose) and in fragrance-free too. If you’re going to a special holiday party, pick up a sparkly handbag. Among them are black, silver and purple. Some hang over the shoulder and they run from $44 to $49. One of the most unusual things here are purses and jeans jackets that have been handpainted by Kimberly Van Rossum. One of them has the face of a woman surrounded by flowers. They are colorful and so unique. They start at $32. Her art work is also for sale. How about some

These come in tan, brown and off-white with lace tops and buttons. They cost $18. Whether you’re looking for pottery, an oil painting or a handfelted fiber art scarce, you’ll

find it here. Among the ceramic works are coffee mugs shaped like cats, and small tea light holders that, indeed, are shaped like cats, too. Tea lights sell for $15 and the mugs are $24. A fiber art scarf would be a great gift for mom. Colorful turquoise and purple shades made by Pam Ellis sell for $65. And, take a look at the felt purses in earth tones that sell at $45. Any art lover would like a miniature watercolor painting of an outdoor scene. They sell at $34. There’s some colorful floral tiles by Kate Larson that can serve as trivets at $40. And how about some drink coasters in Washington scenes such as the mountains, water and ferries? They cost $10 each. Don’t forget to add a bell to your Salamander Pottery collection. A tradition since 1980, these handmade and hand painted bells are a local favorite. There’s also a collection of pottery angels to consider. And don’t forget to pick up a pack of Port Orchard Playing Cards. This firstedition set has pictures of people, places and things in Port Orchard, including some historic photos. The store is filled with unusual gift items to browse. Favorites are wall plaque stepping stones with sincere sayings such as “Life is a journey, not a destination.” Some are welcome signs and are decorated with colorful flowers and butterflies. There’s also a nice selection of stained glass art ranging in price from $59 to $99.
