Mike Sullivan Bremerton home for more than three decades. The city council has one month to find a replacement for Sullivan. City Attorney Roger Lubovich stated there would probably not be enough time to make the 2015 General Election, so the person appointed by the council would likely serve until November 2016. The candidate elected in November 2016 would serve from the time the vote count is certified until the remainder of the term through Dec. 31, 2017.

BREMERTON — Bremerton City Councilman Mike Sullivan passed away Aug. 6 at 12:45 a.m. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer about six weeks ago. Sullivan was 65 years old. From City Council President Greg Wheeler: “It is with deep sadness that the members of the Bremerton City Council and Council staff announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Council Vice President, Mike Sullivan at 12:45 a.m. of Pancreatic Cancer. At this time we are holding his wife Pat, family, and friends close to our hearts. Each of us not only grieves the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss to the City of Bremerton, especially to the community of City Council District 1.” Sullivan was in his first term as a councilman for District 1. He was elected in 2013. A retired chief petty officer and submariner, Sullivan served 23 years in the Navy. He called

The YWC was unable to make significant progress so the property sat in limbo as nature began to slowly reclaim the buildings. There are many questions about the property, but, going forward, officials within the

district are optimistic. Why does the property look like the set of “The Walking Dead”? For a few years, the YWC simply couldn’t afford to pay for upkeep, and under the terms of the lease, the district was completely handsoff — meaning maintenance fell solely on the shoulders of the YWC. The property grew SEE SCHOOL DISTRICT, A9

more than 100 invited guests, including a number of community and national leaders, plus family members of both honorees for the event. When Williamson assumed command on June 1, 2012, he arrived with an unusual background – he had spent his previous tour at PSNS & IMF as the business and strategic planning officer, the production resources officer and the SEE MARKLE, A9
