The Marysville man’s defense attorney had filed a motion to dismiss the charge, saying that there isn’t enough evidence to link his client to the fatal June 1, 2013 drive-by shooting. Walker, 28, has repeatedly denied shooting anyone or at any homes. Molly was struck in the neck as she and friends walked along South Lake Stevens Road. Two

Inslee needs allies for climate agenda By Phuong Le Associated Press

AUBURN — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is likely in 2015 to roll out some of the most ambitious proposals in the nation to reduce carbon pollution, such as a bill to cap greenhouse gases, but unless Democrats can make gains in the state Senate on Tuesday, he’ll face a tougher challenge. is hoping for allies next legislative session when he is likely to introduce a bill to cap greenhouse gases through a market-based system, whether a carbon tax or a cap-and-trade program. DAILY

MARYSVILLE — Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, died Friday, a week after she was shot in the head inside her high school cafeteria. Her death occurred at 4:44 p.m. as a result of the injuries she received last week, said Dr. Anita Tsen, a critical care physician at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. Tsen had been caring for the girl. “The entire Providence family is deeply saddened by this news,” she said, urging reporters and others to give the girl’s family privacy to grieve. Her family released this statement: “Our hearts are broken at the passing of our beautiful daughter. Shay means everything to us. In Shay’s short life she has been a radiant light bringing us incredible joy and happiness. She has been a loving daughter, a caring sister, a devoted friend and a wonderful part of our community. We can’t imagine life without her. “We have been overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and support of our family, friends and community. We are deeply grateful for all the acts of kindness that have come our way. We especially want to thank the medics and Providence staff who have cared for Shay.” Her death brings the toll of the Oct. 24 violence at Marysville Pilchuck High School to four young people, including the shooter. Two other victims remain hospitalized in Seattle, one of whom is in critical condition.
