S equim Cit y C ou n cil members agreed to a one-year contract with the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce to allow mobile food vendors at Centennial Place up to 10 times throughout the year. Although only one food vendor, Maggie May’s Espresso & Outfitter, has shown interest in obtaining a permit, the city staff recommendation to the council was to approve the contract.
Even zombies can enjoy carving a pumpkin. Emmalee Dunham, 8, dressed as a zombie with rainbow pizzazz, carves a pumpkin with her grandpa Ron Pope at the Sequim Prairie Grange’s Country Fair and pumpkin carving event on Oct. 25. The event feature more than 100 pumpkins from Sunny Farms along with cookies, food and games. Look for Sequim Halloween and Harvest events this weekend on B-1 and B-10. At the northeast corner of the Robin Hill Farm Park is a three-acre plot of land that a group of veterans maintains and gardens – The Robin Hill Victory Garden. Although only about an acre of the land has been converted into garden space, volunteers with the nonprofit Green Alliance for Veterans Education (GAVE), cultivated more than 800 pounds of potatoes and hundreds of pumpkins. In the spirit of fall and giving the veterans donated pumpkins to Peninsula Behavioral Health Children’s Program and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula. Marking the second year of the veterans’ garden, children from Sequim Boys & Girls Club ventured to the Victory Garden on Thursday, Oct. 23, to pick from a variety of pumpkins including, little giants, white goblins and

Adhering to the city staffs’ recommendation, councilors voted unanimously in favor of the contract at the Monday, Oct. 27, council meeting.
