Anyone keen to know where things are with planning for Les Gove Park, how Auburn spends its tax dollars,
what it is doing about its streets or a myriad of other matters may today sit in on one of the twice-monthly City Council subcommittee meetings. There they’ll hear small groupings
of Auburn’s elected leaders – three councilmembers and often the mayor – hash out issues with City staff weeks or even months in advance of any Council vote.
For years, this has been the order of things at City Hall, the way ordinances and resolutions have made their way to the full council. [ more FORMAT page 13 ]
Boeing begins production on 737 MAX parts at Auburn plant FOR THE REPORTER
BREAKOUT A large field of runners and walkers with their furry friends take off for the Rover Romp 5K at Roegner Park last Saturday. The fun run was part of Barktoberfest, a fundraiser for the Auburn Valley Humane Society. The day in the park included:

The Boeing Co. has started production of the first 737 MAX fuselage stringers at Boeing Fabrication Integrated AeroStructures in Auburn. Stringers run the length of the fuselage structure, giving it stability and strength. After forming, Boeing will send the stringers to Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, Kan. for incorporation into the first 737 MAX fuselage. From there, the fuselage will be shipped to Boeing’s Renton facility where Boeing employees will build the 737 MAX. The program is on track to begin final assembly of the first 737 MAX in 2015. The airplane will be part of the flight test fleet and is scheduled to fly in 2016. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, [ more BOEING page 8 ]
Auburn first: home converted from electric to solar power

The City of Auburn got a little greener last month with the completion of Pamela Gunderson’s conversion from electric to
solar energy. According to Gunderson, who says the conversion is the first ever in Auburn, the process started last year. “I started looking into hav-
ing solar installed and found this company, SolTerra Systems,” said Gunderson, a 30-year Auburn resident. Based in the Pacific Northwest with offices in Portland and Seattle,
the six-year-old company specializes in environmentally-friendly construction, including the installation of solar panels. [ more SOLAR page 13 ]
