Grand opening a homerun Kirsten Collingwood and her daughter Jennifer were the first in line at 6:15 a.m. to see former Seattle Mariners right fielder Jay “Bone” Buhner’s appearance in Federal Way on Sunday. The duo, along with Chris Baldwin and Calaya Ruoff waited more than six hours before Buhner was expected to sign autographs during DICK’s Sporting Goods’ grand opening at The Commons mall. At 12:30 p.m. when Buhner arrived, over 150 Mariners fans stood in a line that wrapped around the entrance of the store. Buhner is among the most recognizable players of his time, well known for his shaved head, thick goatee and patch of pine tar on the right hip of his uniform, according to the Mariners’ website. DICK’S Sporting Goods’ sixth store in Washington is located at 1819 S. Commons, Federal Way.
