GRCC’s new look taking shape Two projects right on schedule to open in 2015 BY ROSS COYLE rcoyle@kentreporter.com

Construction continues on Green River Community College’s two coming additions – the Stu-

dent Life Center and the Trades Complex across campus. According to Sam Ball, director of capital projects at the college, construction has been “typical,” without many delays. “The Trades project has been pretty clean because it was an undeveloped site,” Ball said.

King County Executive Dow Constantine on Monday announced a partnership with the City of Federal Way to keep the Federal Way Public Health Center open, despite declining federal and state funding. Thanks to wage concessions by Public Health employees that will result in savings during the 2015-2016 budget, and additional funding from

BY ROBERT WHALE rwhale@auburn-reporter.com

For her day job, Charlotte Hemstock is a waitress at Auburn’s Rainbow Cafe and at the Clarion Hotel, where her radiant smile and sunny personality make her a customer favorite. But for years, on the side, the 27-year-old woman has been quietly building her own business, too.

A business so small that as of today, it literally fits into a shoe box, but for which Hemstock has big hopes. From that shoe box Hemstock produces a greeting card. She made it for a guitar player, she says, adding that the guitar’s strings make it too fragile for commercial manufacture or for sending through the mail. [ more CARDS page 9 ]
