Facebook posting creates tension in District 26 race Candidates tell different story on Aug. 29 incident By DANNIE OLIVEAUX Editor
Republican candidate Michelle Caldier, who is running for the District 26 state representative Pos. 2 seat, last week posted on her Facebook page that Caldier District 26 State Rep. Larry S e a qu i st was taking pictures of her as she got into her car last Seaquist month. “Wow ... I felt like I was being stalked,” Caldier wrote
on her Facebook page. But Seaquist said in a Sept. 9 interview that the posting “was not true.” The state representative said that he and Caldier attended a 2 p.m. meeting on Aug. 29 in downtown Bremerton. “Shortly after 3 p.m. we went to our cars,” he said. “It turns out she is parked right in front of me. I sat down in my car and looking at my phone catching up with my emails, then I notice Michelle got in her car.” He said that Caldier got into a white convertible. “All of the sudden I notice that the truck of the white car in front of me opens up and the roof of the car appears out of the truck,” Seaquist said. “It’s a hard-top convertible. Local motorcyclist killed in collision Staff report
A South Kitsap motorcyclist was killed in a Sept. 5 collision on Sedgwick Road, according to a Washington State Patrol report. WSP identified the deceased as Charles K. Heinzerling, 45, of Port Orchard. Heinzerling was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Sedgwick about 5:07 p.m., when he attempted to pass a motor home and collided with a 2013 Honda CRV in the eastbound lane, according to WSP. The Honda was turning left onto Arderbard Road when the accident occurred. Troopers reported that Heinzerling was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The Honda driver and her 12-year-old passenger were wearing seat belts. Both was treated for minor injuries at the scene. WSP troopers blocked off Sedgwick for more than two hours while they investigated the incident. No alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision and the cause was unsafe passing.

Former California teammates reunite By DANNIE OLIVEAUX

acob Lewis and Kaleb Bates became friends six years ago in California. They played for the Lemoore Jaguars, a youth football team, and went to two division championships. In 2013, the two close friends moved to Kitsap County, unaware that they would be facing each other on opposite side of the gridiron during the Sept. 5 season opener as Central Kitsap hosted longtime rival South Kitsap at Silverdale Stadium. Lewis, a 5-foot-9 senior, is the starting safety for South, while Bates, a 6-foot junior, was the starting quarterback for CK. Ironically, both worn No. 2. South Kitsap won, 21-3. Before moving to Kitsap County, Lewis and Bates were on the Lemoore High School junior varsity football team in 2012. Bates moved to the Silverdale area in 2013, then Lewis moved to the South Kitsap area. Lewis’ family moved here to be closer to her family, while
