KINGSTON — Scott Henden said he plans to stay on the North
Kitsap School Board if elected 23rd District state representative, position 1. His school board term ends in 2015 but, he said, “If 2015 was tomorrow, I would run again.” There is no district policy against a school board member serving in the state Legislature, according to NKSD Superintendent Patty Page. However, she said she is unsure of the “feasibility” of doing

Sherry Appleton, who is running for a sixth term. “My feeling is you can’t serve two masters,” she said. “We work 105 days straight, 24 hours a day — answering emails and calls.” One state legislator serves in two elected positions. POULSBO — Locals know the common complaints around town: parking, graffiti, potholes. Before, such concerns were marched down to City Hall. Now, submitting complaints to the city is as easy as using a smartphone. The City of Poulsbo has taken a step to meet its tech-savvy residents by offering an app. “This is just another way for people to communicate with us. OULSBO — Dr. Bernie Brown, who has been a fixture in pediatrics in Poulsbo for 40 years, is retiring and closing his practice. But his work is far from over. He will continue the medical mission work that he’s done for 18 years near Cabo

POULSBO — The last time a visitor to the Poulsbo waterfront reportedly saw work being done on a schooner here was in 1954, when Pacific Cod Co. schooner C.A. Thayer was retired from service. “That’s what makes this so special,” said Jonathan Thomas, chairman of the board of directors of the Kitsap Maritime Heritage Foundation. “We are the first publicly worked on schooner since the ’50s era with the Pacific Cod Co.,” he said.
