Local and state law enforcement took a hit this week with a Washington State Patrol trooper suffering minor injuries in a collision on Interstate 405 Sunday and a Bellevue cruiser involved in a t-bone accident on Tuesday. WSP reports 47-year-old Shansi He of Seattle was traveling southbound on I-405 around 5:40 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of his 2013 Honda CRV and collided with Trooper Anatoliy Nazariya's patrol vehicle near the I-90 westbound exit on I-405 where the 28-year-old officer was investigating an accident. He and his passenger, 43-year-old Weiming Chen of Boise were transported to Harborview Medical Center where they were treated and released. Charges are pending. This is the second accident to occur near the exit in the past two weeks involving a WSP patrol car. An officer-involved collision at Northeast Eighth Street and 148th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue around 10:30 a.m. tied up traffic for several hours at the intersection. A Bellevue police officer was traveling westbound on Eighth Street with his lights and siren on in response to a back-up call for another officer involved in a fight, said Ofc. Carla Iafrate. Another vehicle traveling southbound on 148th failed to yield to the officer and collided with the side of the officer's cruiser, which was pushed into two other vehicle. The officer was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure and accident investigators were out Tuesday reconstructing the scene. A Bellevue cruiser was damaged in a five-car accident Tuesday. COURTESY PHOTO
