Pierce County completes boat launch rehab project Photo Courtesy Pierce County Pierce County recently reopened the 37th Street NW boat launch on Wollochet Bay following the rehabilitation of the ramp. The boat launch was closed for five days beginning Aug. 19 to allow crews to replace the existing ramp structure with concrete panels purchased from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. During the closure, boaters used nearby Pierce County-operated launch sites, including Randall Drive Northwest near Gig Harbor; A Street KPS in Home; and Hall Road in Vaughn. Pierce County rehabilitated the A Street KPS boat ramp in July, and the boat ramps on Hall Road and 72nd Street KPS near Long Branch in 2012. Pierce County plans to rehabilitate the Randall Drive Northwest ramp next year, the Wauna Spit ramp in 2015, and the 10th Street Northwest ramp in 2016. The work is expected to take place during summer low tides between July and September.
