Dog Show... The Enumlclaw Expo Center will be given over to the annual Olympic Kennel Club dog show the rest of this week, bringing topflight canines of all breeds to the Plateau. Thursday and Friday are reserved for specialty clubs – sporting groups on Thursday and toy breeds on Friday – while Saturday and Sunday feature the large, all-breed shows. The public is welcome to attend any of the shows, which begin at 8 a.m. daily. Admission is free but there’s a $5 parking fee. Most dog owners enjoy talking about their breeds and there will be vendors selling pet-related items.
Weather The forecast for today, Wednesday, is mostly sunny with a high of 82 and low near 53. Thursday’s forecast is partly sunny. Friday’s holds a chance of showers. Saturday and Sunday will be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s.

Challenger Dave Gordon took a dominating lead in the Black Diamond mayor’s race following the primary election. Early returns on election night showed Gordon with 567 votes, or almost 66 percent. Incumbent Rebecca Olness was in second with 157 votes, or 18 percent, closely followed by Keith Watson with 135 votes, or 15 percent. By Monday, the King County Elections website showed Gordon with 764 votes, 66 percent, Olnesss with 210, 18 percent, and Watson 178, 15 percent.

Rob Reynolds’ four-year mission to walk around America By Dennis Box Editor
Many walk for exercise or simply to get somewhere. Few who walk find it to truly be an experience or transformation. That, however, is the story of Rob Reynolds’ walk around America. Reynolds, 86, told the story of his walking mission recently at Enumclaw’s Highpoint Village, where he is living. His walk began Jan. 8, 1995, and ended in 1999, spanning four years, seven months and

26 days. He was 68 when he began his walk around America. The story originated in Idaho where Rob was born and raised. He heard about a group known as Mission Aviation Fellowship, a Christian organization that traces its history to 1943 when World War II pilots met for prayer. According to its website, the organization was launched after the war, using planes to provide services and spread Christianity to remote areas of the world.
