City Council to discuss ďŹ nancial report, MLK Subarea Plan

Tacoma City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday at City Hall to hear from City of Tacoma staff on an update to the 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), a key document in describing the city's financial position and activity. Tacoma's charter and Washington State statutes require that a CAFR be developed and submitted no later than May 31 annually. According to city staff, Tacoma received an unqualified opinion from the Washington State Auditor's Office on the 2012 CAFR. Additionally, City of Tacoma Planning and Development Services staff, along with the chair of the community working group, will provide councilmembers with an update on the MLK Subarea Plan project. This will include an overview of the project's schedule, community outreach and input to date, some of the key redevelopment strategies, implementation ac-

tions being taken, and next steps. Finally, City of Tacoma Neighborhood and Community Services staff will share the Human Services Commission's recommendations for competitive funding allocations under the City's Mental Health Sales Tax. The presentation will highlight the application and recommendation process. Neighborhood and Community Services staff released a competitive process in March for $1.7 million dollars of funding with applications due April 8. Councilmembers will not take public comment during the study session, which will be held on Tues., June 18 at 12 p.m. in Room 16 of Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St. Audio from the meeting will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and online at tvtacoma. com. On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting online at tvtacoma.com.
