group repairs or rebuilds homes at no cost to lowincome homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled, or families with children. In Tacoma's South End, the TPU volunteer team took care of one homeowner's desperately needed repairs by installing insulation and energy-efficient fixtures and fixing plumbing leaks. The goal was to leave a much safer, more efficient house that resulted in lower utility bills. By the end of the day, the home had more secure access, a new coat of interior paint and a cleaned up, water-wise landscape. Volunteers ensured the owner's safety by securing railings and making minor electrical updates. "Our relationship with Rebuilding Together South Sound is a perfect partnership for our employees," said TPU Director and CEO Bill Gaines. "They get to use their unique skills and expertise to better our community. Our employees are committed to using their talent to support our most vulnerable customers."
