POULSBO — The field of candidates for Poulsbo police chief has been narrowed from 33 to five. And residents can meet the finalists at a public reception Jan. 30, 5:30-6:30 p.m., in the council chambers at City Hall. The finalists are Robert Griffiths, police chief of Cordova, Alaska; Stephen MacKinnon, most recently police chief of Santa Paula, Calif.; Stephen Mauer, a lieutenant with the Lakewood Police Department; Julius “Phil” Schenck, acting police chief of Sunnyside; and C. Stephen Sutton, Washington State Patrol captain and division commander. The finalists will be interviewed Jan. 31 by a panel consisting of Mayor Becky Erickson, department heads and police. POULSBO — Months of work ended quickly — in only an hour and a half — with lots of full, warm bellies
and awareness of hunger in our community. In a way, the Empty Bowls fundraiser for North Kitsap Fishline, at Gateway Fellowship, began last fall, with people of all ages making bowls at the Americana Music Festival and Indi Studio to be given away at the Jan. 20 lunch. See EMPTY BOWLS, Page A9
