Volunteers served up the annual Thanksgiving feast of Turkey with all the fixins’ Thursday at the Bonney Lake Senior Center, the first of two days of celebration. Music was provided by Community Blend, left. This year’s meal was free courtesy of the family of Dorothy Dominguez, who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year.
Weather Today, Wednesday should bring continuing rain and clouds with high temperatures in the upper 40s, falling into the low-40s overnight. Expect a wet Thanksgiving with rain likely to continue through the weekend.

The first provisions of Initiative 502, the measure legalizing marijuana for recreational use at the state level, will go into place Dec. 6, pending election certification later this month. On that date, up to one ounce of usable marijuana will be decriminalized and the Driving Under the Influence of Drugs mandate will go into place. Powers officially named city’s top cop By Brian Beckley

fter a year as interim chief, Dana Powers on Tuesday officially took the oath of office as Bonney Lake’s top cop. Powers, 47, is a Bonney Lake native who has been with the department since 1992 and served as the assistant chief under former chief Mike Mitchell. She is
the sixth person to hold the office and the first woman to lead the department. Powers was originally named to the position in October 2011 on an interim basis, though Mayor Neil Johnson said at the time he planned to name Powers the next chief at the year’s end.
