Saturday in Poulsbo with the Americana Music Festival at Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park. The free festival begins at 11 a.m. with an opening ceremony and 9/11 remembrance. Poulsbo’s Sept. 11 Freedom Walk
is Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Poulsbo Parks and Recreation parking lot at 19540 Front St., Poulsbo. Veterans organizations will participate in the walk through downtown. The walk is open to the public.

CEO Tom Fitzsimmons. A hotel, however, seems to be on everyone’s mind. “We don’t know much, but we do know it’s a hotel,” Mayor Becky Erickson said at the council meeting.

SUQUAMISH — Chief Kitsap Academy opened its doors for the first time Wednesday, and Superintendent Joe Davalos already had high expectations for the new school. “I expect to have a whole bunch of people who are going to want to come here in one year,” Davalos said. Chief Kitsap Academy, formerly Early College High School, held a student orientation and celebration Wednesday. The vision from the original school to the Academy hasn’t changed much, Davalos said.
However, the preparation that’s gone into the school is expected to make a difference. “We spent one year preparing for
