Eric Sortland, once a highranking member of the Enumclaw Police Department, is battling to get his job back. Terminated in October 2011, city of the former enumclaw EDP lieutenant has appealed his firing to the city’s Civil Service Commission. That three-member body will convene a hearing at 9 a.m. June 21 at Enumclaw City Hall, giving both Sortland and the city the opportunity state their cases. The hearing is open

he White River High class of 2012 crossed the stage of the White River Amphitheatre for commencement exercises Thursday. The weather was rainy and windy, but inside the amphitheater it was sunny smiles and proud parents as 276 seniors were presented with their diplomas – the 107th White River graduating class. “There is a great sense of excitement and anticipation as I pres-
ent these seniors to you this evening as they arrive at the end of their 13-year educational journey,” Principal Mike Hagadone said. During the ceremony each of the valedictorians spoke, talking about their years of school, friends and the future. ollins High School celebrated the class of 2012 during a commencement ceremony Friday in the White River High auditorium. The White River alternative program presented diplomas to 57 graduates with parents, friends and staff cheering and applauding the students’ accomplishments.

Among the interesting facts presented by the staff, 12 from this class were the first to graduate in their family, 18 earned diplomas while working outside jobs and seven graduated early. Also, 38 plan to attend advanced education programs and two are joining the military.
