EARTH DAY FILM & DISCUSSION

Friday, April 27, 3– 5pm at the Oak Harbor Library. “Green Fire: The Life and Legacy of Aldo Leopold” explores the deep impact of Aldo Leopold on conservation projects around the world today. This hourlong film uses photographs, correspondence, and manuscripts from the voluminous Aldo Leopold Archives, as well as historical and contemporary film of landscapes that influenced Leopold and that he in turn influenced. Produced by The Aldo Leopold Foundation in conjunction with US Forest Service filmmakers. Maribeth Crandall will lead discussion after film on conservation efforts in the City of Oak Harbor and on Whidbey Island. Call the Oak Harbor Library at 360675-5115 for more information.

A Restorative Yoga Work Shop will be taught by Trina Terrill on Saturday, April 21 from 8 am–2 pm at the Oak Harbor Senior Center. Cost is $25 per person. Space is limited. She began practicing yoga after finding herself with a significant injury to her right shoulder. She found yoga to be the most essential aspect of her recovery, finding a strong connection to the restorative

Earth Day family fun fair

t Flintstone Park on Saturday, April 28 from 1–4 pm. After the Holland Happening parade come down to the waterfront park for games and activities for kids and hands-on demonstrations for adults. Play Pitch the Poop, spin the Wheel of Waste, Run with the Salmon, spot ducks with the Audubon Society, and get a Beater Bike for free. Bring the kids and win prizes. energy yoga has to offer. Restoring a person to their fullest potential is her passion. Trina holds active certification with the American Council of Exercise (ACE) as a Group Fitness Instructor. She teaches the Monday/Wednesday Yoga class at the Oak Harbor Senior Center through North End Fitness. Yoga classes started several years ago with six people, It has grown to nearly twenty-five students during the last two years since North End Fitness has sponsored the Center’s exercise program. Class members Margaret and Claude Dilly have attended yoga for the last eight years, Suzanne McCrea six years; Diane Pierce five years. Tom Piper and Alan Swan for three. Several others range from a couple of years to two months. All agree they attend to keep fit. “I started yoga to relieve stress,” commented Diane Pierce. One yoga student, who was taking medication for high blood pressure, saw great results after two and half months. When asked by her doctor what she was doing different, contributed it to yoga, consistently two times a week. This is one of the positive effects that gentle

It will help you to stay physically active, have better balance, and for those people living alone it gives you a sense of community– a defense against the depression of isolation. Yoga benifits your physical, mental and emotional health.
