Things are slowly returning to normal on the Plateau and in the valley following a winter storms that dumped several inches of snow and ice on the region. The cold weather fallout took down tree limbs and power lines, leaving most of the area in the dark for the majority of the weekend. As of Monday, Puget Sound Energy restored electricity to most residences, though more than 1,000 customers in the Bonney Lake, Sumner and Lake Tapps areas were still without power. According to PSE, 988 homes in Bonney Lake, 184 homes in Sumner and 133 homes in Lake Tapps were still dark as of noon Monday. Police, fire and public works crews throughout the area are all enjoying a well deserved rest this

Bonney Lake The city of Bonney Lake started preparing Tuesday as the storm began to roll into the area and the city’s Emergency Operations Center was officially opened Thursday. Meetings to coordinate a response took place every morning in the training room of the Public Safety Building, despite a complicating lack of power to the region and buildings.
