After the city of Sumner acquired the Meadows Golf Links during the ‘90s, it soon became apparent the greens were bleeding green. Both improvements and day to day costs proved expensive. City councils have kept the investment alive over the years with transfer loans from other city funds in

Some Bonney Lake entrepreneurs are fighting for the right to keep their address following the city council’s decision to rename one of its oldest roads. Several business owners whose addresses will be affected by the change once again brought their concerns to the city council Dec. 13 and asked the council to reconsider. The council voted Nov. 22 to rename the Bonney Lake section of Sumner-Buckley Highway in honor

The petition has been popular among Swarthout’s customers, she said. Many of whom, like her, are
“old Bonney Lakers.” “The people that come into my deli grab this and sign it,” she said. “Do not destroy a name of a road that people want.” She also said that she and many of the other business owners to whom she has spoken were not contacted by the city. “We do not want (the road to be renamed) and we are on that road,” she said. Steve Marks of B Natural Music also spoke in opposition to the change, saying the costs associated
