A car crash near the intersection of Sedgwick and Long Lake roads last weekend left a 52-year-old Southworth man dead and a 23-yearold sailor facing possible vehicular homicide charges. The suspect, Peter M. Sedrak of Port Orchard, drove his vehicle into the back of a car driven by Harold L. Keith, who was pronounced dead at the scene after his car rolled down a 20-foot embankment around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol. The report says both vehicles were eastbound on State Route 160 when Sedrak drove his 2003 Infinity G35 “at a high rate of speed” into the back of Keith’s 1990 Geo Prism, forcing Keith’s car off the roadway to the right. Sedrak’s vehicle veered to the left, struck a guardrail and spun around. It continued east, hitting a second guard rail and a housing development sign SEE FATAL CRASH, A13

The bounty from the food bank’s own garden and others is providing a welcome addition of fresh vegetables to free lunches prepared for youngsters and to food boxes distributed this summer. But the providers themselves are in a real pickle, financially. “I’ve got to come up with a substantial amount of money by the end of the week, to cover some bills,” South Kitsap Helpline executive director Jennifer Hardison said Tuesday. The agency recently had to make some difficult cuts to reduce expenses as it struggles to make ends meet. Two
