Known as being one of the premier recreational lakes in the region, Lake Tapps began its life in 1911 as a reservoir to turn turbines and generate electricity as part of the White River Project and this weekend the new owners at Cascade Water

Sumner City Council named five new members to the Sumner Historical Preservation Commission Monday. The new members named were Steve Allwine, Arla Holzschuh, Melony Kirkish, Dale Loseth and Emily Terrell. The naming of the five is the culmination of the historic preservation ordinance passed almost three years ago, in 2008. The purpose of the law was to highlight historic sites in the community and provide criteria for whether a location could be included in the preservation program. The Historic Preservation Commission reviews applications from property owners who wish to have their lot located on a local historic register. The board also reviews proper-
