n behalf of the Oak Harbor Senior Center and kitchen staff, meals-on-wheels drivers and the many people we serve,

A Big Thank-You goes to the North Whidbey Lions Club for the wonderful donation of time and work provided in painting our Meals kitchen. Charlie Seablom chaired this project and Ed Fakkema, Dave Glass, Richard Mack, Ernie Branigh, Truman Lowery and his son Dennis Lowery assisted.

Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge. The fun starts at 6 pm with a lovely 4-course Italian dinner, winetasting, dancing to the tunes of The SeaNotes, the antics of Whidbey’s Conductor of Fun Jim Freeman, and a silent and live auction. Tickets are only $25 in advance for all this? But wait! Reserve a table for eight and pay only $160! A fundraiser for IDIPIC. Call 6728219 or visit www.idipic.org.

The current economic times have made it difficult to accomplish anything more than the most essential programs and services for those in need. Painting of the quarter century old kitchen would have been cost prohibitive without the volunteer labor performed. Tens of thousands of meals each year will now be provided from a cleaner, nicer looking kitchen facility which will do much to increase the morale of staff and volunteers alike. Thank you for yet another of the Club’s generous
