KEY CLUB?
KEY CLUB? KEY CLUB?
Key Club is a student-led service club where you get to help your community, make new friends, and try out leadership in a fun way. It started back in 1925 in California and now is all over the world. Our PNW District covers Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, part of Idaho, and Alaska, with tons of clubs and thousands of service hours. We even have a moose mascot: Mortimer!
Being in Key Club is about volunteering and so much more. It’s about being part of a group that actually cares, cheering each other on, and learning skills that will help you in school and beyond. You’ll have opportunities to lead projects, plan events, and see the real impact your work has on your community. You’ll meet people from different schools and backgrounds, make friendships that last, and be part of something bigger than yourself. It’s built on Leadership, Character building m, Caring and Inclusiveness,. You get to step up, grow as a person, include everyone, and make a real difference.

If you’ve never been in Key Club before, this is your chance to join a community that’s fun, welcoming, and meaningful. I would love to personally invite you to become a member of your local Key Club, meet amazing people, and start making a difference today. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t forget!

Key Club Story Key Club Story Key Club Story
When I was a freshman in high school, a senior told me I should join Key Club. This senior's name is Abby Goodwin, and during this time, she was Anacortes High School Key Club Vice President. At the time, I knew little about Key Club beyond its reputation for service, but Abby’s encouragement convinced me to attend my first meeting. From the moment I walked into that first meeting, I felt it—this was a unique place, filled with students who genuinely cared about others and were passionate about making our community better. That initial experience ignited a spark in me that would shape my entire high school years.

Once I finally started getting more involved, I experienced the power of service through all the events our club held. These events included bingo night, Christmas tree pickup, and the senior gala. All of the events opened my eyes to the impact that Key Club was having on both our community and everyone involved. Through service events, I found that I love contributing to something bigger than myself. They gave me a purpose and things to look forward to throughout the school year.
Eventually, at the end of my freshman year, I became the vice president of Anacortes Key Club. By accepting the role, I was faced with many challenges but those didn't stand a chance against my passion. My passion for the club gave me everything I needed to make sure the club ran smoothly throughout that year of me being the vice president. I worked to help projects run smoothly, encourage new members, and continue the welcoming environment that had brought me in. Leadership taught me to communicate clearly, stay organized, and support a team with diverse strengths.
HAYDEN DAVIES HAYDEN DAVIES HAYDEN DAVIES
By the time it was my sophomore and junior year of highschool I was completely committed. Key Club became a place where I not only volunteered but also built friendships and found a community that valued empathy and initiative. The club members encouraged me to grow, take on more responsibility and become a leader. Every meeting I went to the officers showed me what could happen and what I could become. Finally, before my senior school year started, I was faced with a choice of being the chairman of the Anacortes Key Club or becoming the LTG of Division 20i. We had not had an LTG for the past 2 years. I decided that it was a shot worth taking. I wanted to find a way to better my community, and I had wanted to become an LTG, but didn't know if I would have the time due to work and sports. However, I took a leap of faith and was appointed the role of Lieutenant Governor of Division 20i, where I can help lead four clubs to become better and find what Key Club means to them as individuals.

Although I have done a lot within Key Club, one of my favorite things is working with the Kiwanians. Their mentorship and passion for service really opened my eyes to what genuine community commitment looks like. Working alongside them strengthened the bond between our organizations and helped me see Key Club as part of a much larger service network. Looking back, I realize that what began as a simple invitation from a senior has grown into a defining part of my identity. Key Club has given me confidence, leadership skills, and a lifelong dedication to serving others—gifts I will carry long after high school.

UNICEF CHAMPION UNICEF CHAMPION UNICEF CHAMPION

Hello, PNW Key Clubbers!
My name is Sawyer Sullivan and I currently serve as your 2025-2026 PNW District UNICEF Champion. Along with my role as UNICEF Champion, I also serve as the Lieutenant Governor for Division 26 and the PNW Kiwanis-Family Relations Committee Chair. As your UNICEF Champion, I work to strengthen our district’s connection with our international partner, UNICEF, by highlighting our current programs and initiatives. While you may be familiar with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, which just ended in October, you can still support UNICEF USA in the coming months with another program: ‘Start Strong: Zambia.’ Keep reading to learn more!
The United Nations Children’s Fund, better known as UNICEF, has been a Key Club International partner since 1994, and since then, our collaboration has benefited children in need around the world. Since 2022, our partnership has been focused on the ‘Start Strong: Zambia’ initiative. This initiative provides Zambian children with the resources they need to have a strong start in childhood development. The funds donated to UNICEF through Start Strong: Zambia are specifically used to build community learning centers called ‘insakas.’ These insakas are community spaces where children can come to learn, play, and grow during their most important developmental years.
As you may know, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF just ended this past October. This annual fundraising campaign directly supports Start Strong: Zambia and is one of the main ways we raise money each year! Even though Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is over, there are still ways that you can support UNICEF USA for the rest of the year!
Whether it be through holiday-themed fundraisers or educational additions to your meetings, you can continue to connect your local Key Club with an international organization like UNICEF.

SAWYER SULLIVAN SAWYER SULLIVAN
SAWYER SULLIVAN
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF DIVISION 26 / UNICEF CHAMPION

As a quick reminder, you can always donate money directly from your club funds to our campaigns like Start Strong: Zambia. If you would like to do so, make sure to follow your school’s policies! If you want to plan a unique fundraising event for Start Strong: Zambia, there are endless ideas! For the holiday season, consider hosting a bake sale, cookie decorating competition, or a wreath-selling event. You can also reach out to local businesses to see if they would be willing to collaborate. Oftentimes there are opportunities for fundraising nights or direct donations to your club! This money can then be donated to Start Strong: Zambia. If you simply want to educate your members about Start Strong: Zambia, consider including information from the educational resources found on the Key Club International website (www.keyclub.org/start-strong-zambia/). This is a great way to engage your members while simultaneously informing them of our Key Club International partnerships!
Even though Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is over, you can still receive recognition for your fundraising efforts! All donations of $250 or more, collected by Kiwanis International by December 31st, 2025, will receive recognition at DCON 2026 and a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF patch for your club’s banner. Even if the funds raised weren’t from a Halloween-themed event, you can still donate to Kiwanis International and receive recognition! If you want to receive recognition for your donations, follow the steps below!
Once you have gathered all the money that you are going to donate, follow these steps to make sure it is properly labeled so that it can be tracked as a donation from your club! First, convert cash to a check or money order. Then, make the check payable to Kiwanis Children’s Fund. Next, complete the gift form from Key Club International. Finally, send the check to Kiwanis Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 6457 - Dept #286, Indianapolis, IN 46206 USA and include “Trick or Treat” and your club number on the check’s memo line. After following these steps, you will have sent your donation to UNICEF to benefit those in need! For any further information, visit the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF page on the KCI Website or last year’s Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF post.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at ltg26@pnwkeyclub.org or our International Programs and Partners Chair Grace Nelson at gmnelson@keyclub.org.

Aloha Pacific Northwest Key Club!
It is Tyler Moran, your International Trustee for this term. I hope that your fall season has been filled with lots of warmth, love, and lots of hot drinks! As we transition into winter, keep the momentum of Key Club going!

As a member of the Programs and Partners Committee, I have been actively working on launching new initiatives to increase member engagement and education. I worked with Trustee Grace Nelson, to launch the Water Warriors Program. This is a sub-committee under the P&P Committee that will work to promote education and fundraising efforts, where students will serve as liaisons between Key Club and the Thirst Project! Applications opened on December 1st and will close on January 1st. Look to the @keyclub.iboard Instagram for more, or reach out to me!
Key Club International is hoping to go above and beyond this year in regards to membership. We are aiming for a quarter of a million by the end of this term, 250,000 student leaders dedicated to the mission and values of Key Club. Remember that recruitment does not stop, continue to invite new members to your club meetings to show them the power of KCI!
By the time this edition of the Espresso is released, I will have visited Division AYS! I am so excited to meet Key Clubbers in Anchorage, Alaska. I am looking forward to seeing the beauty of the largest state in the country, alongside sharing my experiences working on the International Board with those I meet.
As always, I hope to be of help to you all. So don’t hesitate to contact me via Instagram @tys1uv or email (tmoran@keyclub.org). I will see you all soon at District Convention 2026. Happy holidays!

Happy Holidays, PNW!
With the holiday season comes plenty of opportunities for a new style of service. I hope that you are finding time to engage in unique, impactful service opportunities. From holiday toy drives and coat drives, to Salvation Army bell-ringing and contributing to the District Project, the ability to serve is accessible to all Key Club members!
When thinking about the 2025-2026 service year, it is truly unbelievable to realize that much of the year has already elapsed. Most noticeable to me is my immense gratitude for PNW Key Club, and my pride in what PNW Key Clubbers have achieved. By investing in district activities and programs, members are developing as leaders. By connecting with the Kiwanis Family and celebrating our shared passion for service, members are expanding their impact. By participating in service projects, members are creating true change. It is heartwarming to think about our collective efforts and how they have supported organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, the 2025-2026 District Project, in addition to various food banks, shelters for the unhoused, and other charitable endeavours.
While we enter the last quarter of the service year, I would like to remind you that there is still plenty to accomplish and enjoy. In the next few days, for example, the district will host two noteworthy webinars: The DCON 2026 Registration Webinar will occur on Tuesday, December 16, at 6:00 PM PST, during which members will learn about the DCON registration process, speakers, and entertainers. The Running for Higher Office Webinar is another upcoming webinar, occurring on Wednesday, December 17, at 7:30 PM. Members interested in seeking higher office, such as the positions of Lieutenant Governor, District Executive Officer, or International Board member, must not miss it. I am also beyond excited to experience the first annual PNW Key Club Alumni Celebration in Seattle, Washington!
Finally, when learning about upcoming events, how can anyone forget about our annual District Convention? This year, we cannot wait to “Swing into Service” at our 76th Annual District Convention, which will occur at a new venue in Portland, Oregon from March 6-8, 2026. As you prepare for your journey to Portland, please review the helpful DCON resources available on the PNW Key Club DCON website, especially the Registration Packet and Registration Checklist. I cannot wait to see you at DCON 2026!
Thank you, all, for your dedication to improving our PNW community! With abundant, exciting opportunities to serve and be involved, I know that it is easy to be swept away in the joy—and busyness—of the season. However, I hope that you find the time to enjoy the company of your friends and family. After all, you must take care of yourself before you can serve others with compassion. Have a great winter, PNW Key Club!

Hello, PNW Key Club!
I hope you are staying warm and well rested this holiday season. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your club’s activities this fall through secretary reports! The massive impact each of you has on your community leaves me in awe every time. I encourage you to keep this upward momentum as we enter the winter season. Continue promoting membership growth, showing up to service projects, and engaging with your division.
I am happy to share that as of October 31, the PNW has contributed over 5,323 service hours and donated $3,936 total in funds to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. In order to reach our district goal of 12,000 service hours and $10,000 in donations, we need your help! Please continue to support RMHC with donation drives, care package service projects, community fundraisers, and in-house service if you live close to a RMHC location. Make sure to report all District Project contributions your club has made in secretary reports so your service can be acknowledged!
In other news, the Membership Growth & Reactivation Committee has been hard at work developing new resources and promoting membership growth as we work to reach the lofty goal of 13,400 members this service year! Although the December 1st dues deadline has passed, membership recruitment and dues payment can continue. Continue to recruit members to Key Club and maintain members using the many resources found in the MGRC LinkTree!

Thank you for reading! Your dedication and passion for service continue to inspire me and drive me to fulfill my role well every day. Please reach out to me at secretary@pnwkeyclub.org if you ever have questions or concerns. Have a great holiday season!

Key Club member participation in the District Project is vital to the mission of our District. Recently, clubs within Division 21 have hosted canned food drives, decoration-making, and other projects, which have collected donations for Seattle RMHC. While we understand that some clubs may be too far from a local RMHC, fundraising efforts can make an incredible impact. Hello, Pacific Northwest District Key Club!
It’s already December! Can you believe it? I know all Key Clubs have worked very hard to put together service projects, community events, plan engaging meetings, and grow in members! I’d like to highlight the last point as MGRC Chair.

Membership growth is important for so many reasons! It’s more than just the number of members you have! By recruiting more members, your club is automatically able to find new service opportunities, project ideas, potential partner organizations, and more! With more members available, you can hold meetings with more people attending and engaged, and service projects with more people able to come and serve your community. Through a greater number of members, you potentially have a greater number of future officers. Key Club leaves a lasting impact on people; as members progress throughout high school, college, or life, many of them will be determined to make the Kiwanis Family and community service near and dear to their hearts, truly making our world a better place.
With that information in mind, PNW Key Club’s membership goal for the 2025-2026 service year is 13,400 members, which would BREAK THE RECORD for PNW Key Club membership! We know that sounds like a huge number, but it is attainable if we all work together. Reaching 13,400 members means our district will have to grow by 1600 members. Across 36 divisions, that’s about each division growing by 44 members. However, larger divisions can help by growing by more than 44 members, and smaller divisions in rural areas can still contribute by growing by a smaller, more realistic number.
To help your club maximize its membership, the Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee has a plethora of resources, or “Keys to Membership”! One of the most important things you can do as a Key Clubber is be aware of your membership goal. The MGRC has worked hard to create personalized goals for each club, accounting for past membership trends and school population. Make sure to check your goal out by visiting the MGRC Linktree and clicking on “‘25-’26 Membership Goal Campaign!”

These pins and ribbons will only be available to members of clubs that achieved their 2025-2026 membership goal and who are registered to attend DCON 2026.
GOVERNORS RECEPTION!
Clubs that achieve a membership count 25% or more above their published goal for the 2025-2026 year will be invited to a special reception with the District Board at DCON 2026. There will be food available for attendees, and the District Board and Executive Committee will be present during the event.

The members who joined me at Key Club Day South really enjoyed it. Though the day was especially hot the members came prepared and were excited for all that Key Club Day South had to offer. At KCDS members were able to enjoy the bonding activities, learning about RMHC and experiencing Oaks Park. Specifically the members who joined me were thrill seekers and rode the roller coaster about 4 different times. I had promised if we got more than 10 people in attendance from Division 70 we would ride the roller coaster. I thought this would only be once but it was actually super fun to ride around with my division. Most of the division was able to stick together and stay till closing, enjoying time together and getting to know each other. This made talking to the members about their experiences easier. The members who joined me really enjoyed the experience especially because most people who attended this year have not attended in years prior, so it was all new to them. Besides mingling within the division we were able to meet new people from other divisions. This has helped to inspire service projects outside of one school. By seeing how extensive Key Club is, my division began to understand that Key Club isn't just at their schools but it's everywhere. I’m super excited to see how many more

K-FAM UPDATE K-FAM UPDATE K-FAM UPDATE
“What's kickin’ Key Clubbers! The Kiwanis Family Relations Committee also known as the “K-Fam Committee” works in collaboration with all six branches of the Kiwanis Family. The committee has been very busy with current and future projects. Along with our monthly social media publications on the PNW Key Club Instagram, we recently published the Builders Club Curriculum, hosted the Builders Club x Key Club Webinar, and are preparing for an upcoming Key Club Alumni Event in Seattle on December 20th.

The Builders Club Curriculum is a resource first developed by the 2019-2020 K-Fam Committee and has been newly updated by this year’s K-Fam Committee and published in September of 2025. Originally the intention of the Builders Club Curriculum was to support and assist Builders Clubs in planning their meetings, and it has since been updated to make the resource even more helpful and easier to use. The curriculum is broken down into four sections: the Educational Section, the Activities Section, the Service Section, and the Fundraising Section. All of the components can be mixed and matched for Builders Club officers and advisors to design their own meetings. This allows for Builders Clubs to have a strong foundation for their meetings while also having a lot of flexibility. This resource is extremely useful and is available on the PNW Key Club website and linktree.

Additionally, the K-Fam Committee recently hosted the Builders Club x Key Club Webinar November 20th. The webinar focused on the newly updated Builders Club Curriculum and on providing Builders Club members, advisors, and Key Clubbers with resources to strengthen connections with Builders Club and the other branches of the Kiwanis Family. The webinar featured special speakers Vishal Machewad, District Administrator for the Pacific Northwest District of Builders Club, and Mudra Machewad, a Builders Club alumna who previously served as President for three terms. The K-Fam Committee highlighted the Builders Club Curriculum, joint service projects, the instructions and importance of chartering a Builders Club, and the impact of Builders Club from an alumni perspective. Overall, the Builders Club x Key Club Webinar provided attendees with valuable information and resources to support, charter, and improve Builders Clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Kiwanis Family Relations Committee continues to work on future projects, such as the upcoming Key Club Alumni Event at Victor Tavern South Lake Union in Seattle, Washington, on December 20, which is centered on the Key Club Alumni member experience and promoting alumni involvement in other branches of the Kiwanis Family. Other projects and goals the K-Fam Committee is working toward include incentivizing more joint projects and recognizing clubs that are making great efforts to strengthen Kiwanis Family Relations in their communities. Building connections within the Kiwanis Family is KEY to promoting service, mentorship, and community. The KFam Committee is dedicated to further strengthening the connections between all the branches of the Kiwanis Family, and we have more exciting things to come!
