Health, Safety, the Environment & CSR HSE & CSR Committee Meeting

The HSE & CSR Committee met on 15 April in Palermo, Italy. Points on the agenda included defining the topics of the HSE & CSR Workshop taking place in the autumn and discussing the awards adjudication process.

We are pleased to welcome two new members to the HSE & CSR Committee. The members expressed their sincere gratitude to departing member Stacey Winkleman for her invaluable contributions to the group's work. She was followed in the role by Ian Pibworth, HSE Manager at CRC Evans.

After completing a degree in engineering, Ian began his career in the glass manufacturing industry, where he spent six years developing a strong foundation in technical and operational processes. He then moved into an operations role at CRC Evans, where he spent eight years gaining valuable experience across the pipeline industry. Over the last two years, he gradually transitioned into his current position as HSE Manager, a role that allows him to combine his industry experience with a passion for promoting health, safety, and environmental excellence across the organisation.

HSE & CSR Committee Advances Key Initiatives in Palermo Meeting

“On 15 April, the HSE & CSR Committee convened in Palermo for a productive one-day meeting to review ongoing initiatives and set ambitious targets for the coming months. A major milestone was the finalisation of guidelines for tie-ins, which will soon be accessible on the IPLOCA website, ensuring members can implement best practices.

“A key discussion focused on Mental Health at Work, a priority chosen last year. With insights from two committee members, the team examined current trends, support programmes, and potential improvements. A comprehensive document summarising the findings will be presented to the Board before being shared with members. Recognising that the existing Health & Safety (H&S) Policy and Environmental Policy have remained unchanged since 2013, the committee took on the challenge of updating these documents to align with modern industry standards.

“Looking ahead, members will evaluate awards submissionsbefore reconvening in Geneva on 12 June to finalise selections. The next meeting in Budapest will feature an HSE & CSR workshop on 28 October, addressing the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and strategies for Driving a Positive Safety Culture. The committee remains committed to fostering continuous improvement and innovation in health, safety, and corporate sustainability.”
