Spanish police bust Nigerian sex slave ring By Hassan Haruna Ginsau, with agency report
S
panish police said they have busted a gang of 25 Nigerians who were running a sex slave ring, conducting online scams and laundering money. Also, five female victims of sex slavery were released during the crackdown on the gang’s underground operation in Spain, the police said in a statement yesterday. According to the statement, the gang was using Spain as a platform to send Nigerian women to be exploited in other countries, the group also laundered profits by buying luxury products that were shipped back to Nigeria, in vans with tinted windows and sealed doors. The police seized 94 vans near Madrid and 26 loaded ones at Valencia port containing goods with an estimated value of $6.7 million, the statement said, adding that they had to use heavy machinery to open the vans, which President Goodluck Jonathan (2nd left), lifting the Under 17 World Cup trophy won by the Golden Eaglets, during the contained items such as expensive Presidential reception for the players, yesterday at the State House, in Abuja.
