Homogeneous tiles are a type of full body porcelain tiles.

Characteristics 

Long-lasting.



Higher density.



homogeneous tiles are unglazed.



Perfect for bathrooms and kitchens.



Colour of the tile runs throughout the material.



Homogeneous tiles are fired at high temperatures, making them more durable and non-porous.



Can be polished to make it reflective.

Safety Issues and Aesthetic Consideration Purposes 

Discoloured texture on the surface of a homogeneous tile can cover up scratches and cracks.



Water-resistant



They are durable and discoloured



Highly attractive



Resists wear



Simple to clean, Stain and chemical resistant



Firing process causes tiles to shrink up to 10% in size.



Standard size of homogeneous tile are 600x600mm/ 800x800mm.



600 x 600mm tile vary in size between 598mm to 602mm. A total variance of 4mm between two tiles.

Homogeneous tiles are harder to cut due to their density and hardness.

Tile warpage causes uneven tile surface.

Installation method for homogeneous kitchen tile First method: Cement/ Mortar as binder 1. Prepare the surface.

2. Concrete is cured before installation.

3. Surface is cleaned with water.

4. Tiles are dipped into water for 2 hours then excess water is remove.

5. Locate the center of the room by drawing 2 diagonal lines to determine center point. layout the tiles in the pattern you want.

6. Make reference lines to make sure tiles are perfectly aligned.

7. Mix the binder until it has the consistency of damp earth.

8. Apply binder (cement mortar) onto surface.

9. Spread the binder onto the support surface in the required thickness of no less than 3 to 4 cm.

10. If the weather is particularly warm or windy, dampen the surface lightly first.

11. Lay the tiles accordingly.

12. Spread the cement grout to fill the joints uniformly.

13. Remove excess binder with a wet sponge and water.

14. Seal the grout with grout sealer.

Characteristics     

It is also known as imprint concrete.

Patterned to make it similar to slate, brick, stone, wood, flagstone, tiles.

Commonly applied for pool decks, sidewalks, patios and driveways.

Shapes, textures, patterns, colours of the imprint concrete and finishes can be further polished and enhanced.

Regular maintenance of cleaning and resealing stamped concrete should be done every 2 to 3 years on average.

Safety Issues and Aesthetic Consideration Purposes       

Save cost, resembling real flooring material.

Slip-resistant when treated with a non-skid additive.

Stain-resistant Long-lasting coloured surface, texture and patterns.

Faster installation compared to actual materials.

Easy to maintain when sealed Enhances outdoor spaces

Disadvantages    

Not very DIY friendly Can develop minor cracks Repairs can be difficult Can be damaged by freeze but not common in Malaysia.

Installation of Stamped concrete Direct stamping on concrete

1. Placing the forms to contain the concrete in the area desired.

2. Adding colour into the concrete mix for 5 minutes.

3. After pouring concrete, bull float the concrete surface until it closes up.

4.Applying release agent when the concrete is ready to stamp. Release agent acts as a barrier between the concrete and stamps.

5.Concrete stamping mat is used to stamp the concrete

6.Washing off excess release agent.

7.Sealing surface with two coats of base sealer.
