THE ART OF ikebana Different Styles

The art of Ikebana flower arrangement was one of those complicated concepts. Over the years of history, Ikebana has split into many different styles with specific performance techniques. Similar to many other traditional Japanese arts such as Tea ceremony and Noh drama, each style of Ikebana has an official heir called “Iemoto” (the householder).

Currently, in Japan there are more than 300 styles of Ikebana, of which, “Ikenobo”, “Ohara”, and “Sogetsu” are considered as the greatest of all. Gaining an insight into the styles of Ikebana not only helps those loving this art find the right style for them, but also gives them the ability to deeply appreciate the beauty of the flower arrangement.
