Hello, and welcome to the RAG mag. We’re incredibly proud to introduce you to an amazing society, that host a huge range of activities to raise money for charity. Our growth has been incredible over the past year, raising in excess of one-hundred thousand pounds, and this year we hope to increase it even more. We are a society made up of individuals from all different backgrounds who all have the same common ground, to make a huge impact. We run all kinds of activities from cake sales to club nights, and pizza eating to climbing Mt Kilimanjaro; there is something for everyone. Our membership is free, and we really want you to get involved and add something special to your university experience. We are more than happy to help you with any fundraising that you would like to pursue, so please do not hesitate to get in touch. Each year, in the Summer term you vote for which charities RAG supports. These are the nominated charities for 2014. All of RAGs funds will be split between these charities. Read about them here.

Plymouth RAG is supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust’s South West Appeal and is aiming to fund and build the region’s first dedicated unit for 16‐24 year olds with cancer. RNLI provide a 24‐hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service. Plymouth RAG is supporting the lifeboat stations in and around the region, funding new equipment and helping to maintain the existing equipment and lifeboats. Macmillan provides practical, medical and financial support and aims to push for better cancer support. RAG will be supporting the Mustard Tree Centre, which operates out of Derriford hospital, as well as helping to fund the MacMillan nurses in the local area.

RAG wants you to choose which charities we support in 2014/15. The RAG committee will shortlist seven charities from the applications we receive then the student body will vote for the final three. Voting will open mid April. Vote to ensure that RAG supports the charities that are important to you!

We want you to join us! Not only is RAG membership free but you will get up to date emails about all of our events, activities and how to get involved with fundraising through our international adventures and national campaigns. And if that’s not enough you will receive a RAG membership card, which will give you 50% off Pizza Hut.
