Dear Plymouth Public Schools Community,

As we close out the 2022-2023 school year, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all our families for your support throughout the school year. Your dedication, involvement, and partnership have been instrumental in creating a positive learning environment for our students. As you spend time with your children this summer, cherish these moments and continue to foster their curiosity and love for learning.

Summer break is a time for relaxation, rejuvenation, and quality time spent with loved ones. It offers an opportunity to explore new hobbies, embark on adventures, and create lasting memories Whether you plan to travel, engage in community activities, or simply enjoy some quiet moments at home, I hope that the upcoming months are filled with joy, laughter, and precious moments of togetherness

To our students, I encourage you to embrace the summer as a time of personal growth and exploration. Please remember to take care of yourselves and prioritize your well-being during this time. Take this opportunity to delve into your passions, discover new interests, and challenge yourselves in unique ways that inspire you.

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our educators and staff members. Your commitment to our students' education and well-being has been truly commendable. You have gone above and beyond to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, adapting to new teaching methods, and embracing innovative approaches. Thank you for your resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication to our students.

While we are winding down this school year, we are already planning for 2023-24. Over the summer, our dedicated team will be working diligently to prepare our schools for the upcoming academic year. We will enhance our facilities, refine our curriculum, and invest in professional development opportunities for our educators to further strengthen our educational programs

I wish you all a safe, enjoyable, and rejuvenating summer We look forward to welcoming our students back in the fall, ready to embark on a new chapter filled with growth, learning, and endless possibilities I look forward to sharing our District’s goals, and welcoming everyone back in late August

With warmest regards,

SUMMER READING

Research shows that frequent independent reading has a direct correlation to reading achievement and improves vocabulary and writing skills. We also encourage parents to read with their child, as reading aloud is another powerful way to enhance vocabulary, model fluent and expressive reading, and build listening comprehension. The more students read, the better readers they become - and it is just plain fun too!

SUMMER MATH

Dear Families of Students

Entering Grades 1 through 8,

Learning and growing doesn’t stop over the summer! You can help your student accelerate their learning with Freckle. Because the activities are fun and adapt to your student’s level, they will love to continue their math practice on Freckle during the summer months.

Freckle is accessible through your child’s Plymouth Clever account 24/7, wherever an Internet connection is available. Since Freckle is continuously challenging students, using Freckle throughout the summer can boost learning and prepare students for the next school year.

Please know, this summer work is OPTIONAL and will NOT be graded upon return in the fall. However, AWARDS will be given to our top Freckle mathematicians when we return to school after the summer break!

Should you need any support from us with regard to accessing Freckle Math, please email Kelly Bitinas, K-12 Mathematics Coordinator at kbitinas@plymouth.k12.ma.us.

Finally, in order to move our system over to the 23-24 school year, the last day students will be able to access their current Plymouth Freckle account will be August 11, 2023. After that date, their Aspen/Clever access will be restricted until school begins at the end of August.

We wish you a wonderful summer full of learning and joyful experiences!

Sincerely,

Children's Books That Foster a Love of MATH

You are the Historian Investigating the First Thanksgiving BEGIN GAME

Plimoth Patuxet Museums has reimagined and redesigned "You Are the Historian: Investigating the First Thanksgiving," its popular interactive game that has entertained school-aged children and families for almost two decades! The game investigates the interactions between the Wampanoag people of Patuxet and colonists of Plymouth, known as the Pilgrims, through archaeological artifacts from the museum’s collections, primary source documents, and oral histories.

"You Are The Historian" transports players to Patuxet and immerses them in a story of cultural change and persistence over 12,000 years. Warning! Magical time travel, an anonymous tipster, mysterious riddles, historic artifacts and mind-bending activities are just ahead.
