A break away from inflexible ways of working; a positive culture with better interaction with clients. This is Beverston. Too often clients of accountancy firms don’t feel valued. They’re just a number in the filing cabinet. In our line of business, building positive relationships matters. Our purpose is to understand our clients’ businesses, their problems and aspirations. Listening gives us the understanding to provide a better value service, which is advisory, attentive and tailored to the client’s needs. Whether you’re a start-up or an established family business, it makes a refreshing difference. We work in partnership with Xero. Xero provide simple accounting software which enables small business owners manage their finances in real time. Our team are experts and can provide support wherever you are. We are delighted to have been involved with the birth of Plymouth City Patriots and proud to be supporters. We look forward to getting together with friends and family to cheer on the team.

MATCH REPORT The Plymouth City Patriots were in action once again Sunday afternoon, and despite a gallant effort came up agonisingly short to their visitors, the Surrey Scorchers. A packed house at Pavilions was full of optimism and excitement, both at the prospect of seeing the clubs new signings, Spencer Levi and Tyrell Green, and at the potential for a win or in the very least a close match against fellow bottom dwellers, Surrey. The game would remain a tight affair from start to finish, with both teams playing with a clear desire to win the game, and banish the loser to sit in isolation, at the bottom of the table. Neither side managed to gain a firm foothold, or any solid advantage that might indicate who would ultimately take the victory. Stand out performances from Taylor Johnson (24 points, 5 assists, 2 steals), and TJ Atwood (19 points, 7 rebounds), would keep the Patriots very much in the hunt for the win, but it wouldn’t be enough. Mason Faulkner also pressed with 23 points, but a missed free throw in the dying seconds opened the door for the Scorchers to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime, Spencer Levi continued to crash the boards, finish the game with 12 rebounds, but the visitors depth payed dividends. The Patriots ran out of steam, giving Surrey the 105-110 win and the Patriots eighth loss of the season. “It’s a little heart breaking to lose this way,” started Head Coach Paul James. He continued “we came so close to what would have been a well earned win. I thought we played some great basketball at times and showed we can move the ball well.” With reference to Coach James newest signings, he added “they’ve both come in and contributed well, after a relatively short time with the team. I can’t wait to get them integrated more and keep us moving in the right direction.” It was the Patriots fifth consecutive loss leaving them firmly rooted to the bottom of the BBL table. With fixtures coming thick and fast, and Friday night’s game against the Caledonia Gladiators looming nearer, Coach James and Patriots fans in general will be hoping to see their team grab the initiative and attempt to change the narrative of their dismal season so far.

MATCH REPORT Plymouth Marjon Patriots 68-38 Oaklands Wolves The Plymouth Marjon Patriots Women continued their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a dominant win in their home debut. A solid defensive display in the opening quarter set the tone for the game and with the Patriots on fire from behind the arc with Jodie Abbott and Emily Sycamore, it was a convincing 19-8 lead at the end of the first. Oaklands responded in the second quarter by upping their defensive pressure but they still couldn’t quite stop the Patriots offence. Captain Annette Cook made the most of her time at the free throw line and Emily Chipperfield also got in on the scoring action. The home side went into the locker room with a 12 point lead at halftime. The Patriots came out with a renewed focus in the second half and held the visitors to just 6 points in the third quarter. With Abbott, Cook and Alicia Parsons dominating the scoring in the period, it was a comfortable 29 point lead heading into the final quarter. Oaklands once again turned up the heat on defence but it wasn’t enough for the guests to close the gap and the Patriots held on to win 68-38. Jodie Abbott hit 4 three-pointers on her way to being leading scorer with 18 points and Cook added another 14 points. Nine different Patriots players managed to get themselves on the scoresheet, showcasing an excellent team performance. Team captain Annette Cook said: “We went into the game knowing Oaklands would be very well drilled. We wanted to come out the blocks quickly and put some decent points on the board in the first quarter. Then it was about remaining consistent and composed when Oaklands upped the pressure to stay in the game. It’s a huge first win on our home court and we couldn’t be happier that we’re now two from two in the league.”
