My name is Pluem Pongpisal, currently working as a Singapore-based architectural designer at Formwerkz with passions in art & design. I would like to express my interest in becoming an artist in residency at Culturi Gallery.
I’ve known of Culturi Gallery since 2021 when I visited the gallery seeing the opening of the show by resident artists and was moved by the freshness and energy among artists supported by your gallery. During Art SG Week, Culturi Gallery also successfully stood out among other Singapore based galleries, evidently based on the artworks that were showcased.
Despite my specialty of design, art has always been the skill set that I’m constantly nurturing, the art of painting in particular. For several years, I’ve taught myself to paint on both physical and digital platforms. Most inspired by Romantic and Impressionistic eras, my paintings are produced with an aim to represent deeply personal emotions from memorable life moments through robust brush strokes. Combining with my skill in generating 3D perspectival medium accumulated through years of architectural representations, the juxtaposition between 3D perspectives & painting art is utilized to retell stories of how I see the world by adding another level of complexity to my visual works & illustrations.
Throughout these couple of years, from just a mere passion-driven hobby, I have been involved with several commissioned visual-art projects in various scales and showcasing my creations through many social media platforms. From oil painting to academic architectural representation to a monumental large-scale mural, I enjoy pushing the limit of my aesthetic versatility, which hopefully would help achieve the goal of mine, being an artist. I feel determined to become a multidisciplinary artist that could produce and showcase the entire spectrum whether in painting, illustration, sculpture, installation, and architecture.
I view myself as a wild horse, full of energy and enthusiasm. Being the wild horse that I am, I believe that once exposed to professional guidance from Culturi’s team together with a well-equipped space, I can fully explore, experiment, and perform to become an ultimate racing horse, capable of competing with the rest of the world.
I hope that Culturi Gallery could see such potential in me from the attached work samples. With this letter of intent, I am ready and more than happy to drop by and discuss about any prospects and opportunities.
