Morale

The hard times have made for increased seriousness. The spirit of youth remains undefeated. The teachers have made great acrifices willingly. Harmony and co­ operation prevail.

Good Will

Good will in the home community of Greater Tacoma is constantly on the increase.

The good reputation of Pacific Lutheran College is spreading into wider and wider circles.

Increased Synodical Cooperation

Beginning with 1933, the Augustana Synod, particularly its Columbia Confer­ ence, joins with the American Lutheran Church and the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America in actively supporting the College and in sharing the responsibility of its control.

Deyelopment Program

Th depression rem ved the need of immediate action, but progress has been made on dormitory and campus plans. The whole program is at present tied up with the Preus-Elvestrom Plan which will, we believe, become effective as soon as financial conditions begin to improve.

Finances

Because the College received no emergency appropriation to cover last year's deficit of $14,581.35, the Emergency Committee of Fifteen Hunderd is working to raise this sum. We still need $11,000 of this sum, urgently. We ask you to help us avoid a deficit this year. THE 1933 SUMMER SESSION June 12 to August 25 Full Quarter-Two Terms All courses fully accredited. While the work is primarily planned for Normal school students, Liberal Arts courses will be offered.

COMPARATIVE BUDGETS 1931-34 Our 1931-32 budget was patterned after Washington accreditation standards.

Later reductions are in harmony with a 270;0 reduction in the budget of the State University, without change of scope.

OUR PLEA Early in April the Board of Trustees of Pacific Lutheran College must meet to plan the work for next year. The Board must estimate the income for the year and seek a balanced budget. How much may the Board expect from the members of the Development Association? How much from you? What further success will the Emergency Committee of Fifteen Hundred report? What will the Churches do, and how promptly, for the cause of P. L. C.?

Our plea is that you make some kind of a reply by April 1, on the blank below.

We ask y u earnestly to take this plea to the Lord in prayer and then to make reply in willingness and f ith. We seek voluntary gifts, cheerfully given, be they large or small. We seek to bind together in common service the true friends of Christian education n the Pacific Coast, for "united we stand, divided we fall." We seek to make the Lutheran Church a blessing, an increasingly greater blessing, in a section rich in promise. We would be grateful for the trust which hundreds of young Chris足 tians and their counselors have placed and are placing in our one Western college. We dare not think of retrogression; for the Lord said, Go! Let every member, past or prospective, of the Development Association, make reply now! Let us know whether we can count on you, and to what extent_ Do not hesitate to answer frankly_
