Physical and electronic item issues The number of physical issues are almost back to their pre-Covid levels, whilst electronic issues have significantly increased, particularly in the years most effected by Covid. Collections and usage (issue numbers) The physical collection size has slightly increased since 2017-18. Issues of physical items increased in 2020-21 compared to the previous year but numbers are still down from 201718, to 2019-20.

The electronic collection size has increased significantly each year. During the last four years, the electronic collection size has more than doubled (by 161% in fact). Issue of electronic items increased at the start of the Covid period and has continued to increase, and that increase is at a faster rate than for physical items.

Events & programmes nationally Events and programmes include exhibitions, events and programmes both within the library and offsite, online programming, and outreach events and programmes. In 2019-20, we saw a decrease in events and programmes due to COVID lockdowns. But during the last four years overall, both the number of events and programmes and numbers of people attending events and programmes has increased.
